North Texas College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

North Texas made the CUSA title game in \u201922 but still changed their Head Coach (44-37 in the regular season).\u00a0 Eric Morris was another offensive-minded hire, which for the most part, was not<\/strong> the issue.\u00a0 As I expected, they finished 5-7, with all kinds of defensive issues.\u00a0 Now what?\u00a0

2024 North Texas NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The staff returns, but is still in learning mode.\u00a0 I have two RB\u2019s that need a weekly check, but I expect some regression with two very stout RB\u2019s missing.\u00a0 QB play will be similar (good scheme) but the transfer QB will likely commit more turnovers.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both tackles are raw, and I don\u2019t know if they can significantly reduce the 38 sacks allowed, which compared to the previous three seasons under the old staff, was quite disturbing (45 total previous three seasons).\u00a0 The run defense, 4.8 in \u201922, was 5.6-255 a year ago.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coaching has to improve.\u00a0 The secondary is full of transfers.\u00a0 On paper, that talent is better, but how soon does it come together?\u00a0 Last year they allowed 37 or more points eight times, and 27 or more in three other games.\u00a0 Last year\u2019s PK was well above average.\u00a0 This year\u2019s PK has never tried a field goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


North Texas Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s my issues: A raw coaching staff, backfield regression, massive issues defending the run, and an unknown kicking game.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that said, the offensive scheme works, and the schedule has plenty of win opportunities on it.\u00a0 I show them 4-6 going into two winnable games to end the season.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if they can pull off 6-6, but another 5-7 campaign would, and should bring about some changes to the supporting coaching staff.\u00a0<\/strong>
