West Virginia College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m happy for Neal Brown, who is a solid Head Coach.  They exceeded expectations last year despite a negative transfer portal differential, RB injuries, and a below par run defense.  This year won\u2019t be easy, but at least they gained some confidence.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 West Virginia NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

2nd<\/sup> year offensive coordinator Chad Scott was better than expected, as the run game thrived at 5.45-238.  QB Greene assumed the starting job and ran wild, adding 12 TD\u2019s.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His TD-interception ratio was 16-4, but this year I\u2019d like to see his accuracy improve (just 53+%).  When RB Donaldson went down, RB White emerged and was even better.  They both return!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They lose their best OL, a blue-collar guy (Frazier), but hopefully will remain solid with three returning starters.  The defense lost some talent (six starters), but it\u2019s not uncommon for teams to find suitable replacements when none of the six starters were drafted by the NFL.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My two checks will be nose tackle and pass pressure, with no player returning who had more than 2.5 sacks.  PK Haynes is part of a solid special team unit.  He was 17-21, and 17-18 inside of 50 yards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6-6 as a ceiling for WVU? <\/strong> The backfield is loaded, coaching is solid, and close game kicking is an asset, but 7-5 would be the most I could go, and that\u2019s a leap of faith.  UNDER 7 wins<\/em><\/strong> (William Hill) is something to consider (grid agrees).
