Utah College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kyle Whittingham was the premier coach in the PAC 12.  2002 was their last losing season, so Whittingham, in 19 seasons, has NEVER had a losing record at Utah.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome to the Big 12.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Utah NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

QB.  Cam Rising is set to return after missing all of last season.  So is solid TE Brant Kuithe, although some periodicals do not list him yet as a starter.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attrition surprisingly hit the Utes at RB, but perhaps one of several lightly used players can take the lead.  Behind a decent, but not spectacular OL (as in the past), I\u2019ve reduced the run projection to 4.4 per carry.  Utah has had amazing coaching stability.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t see any reason to deviate from their typical run D#\u2019s, but they do lose pass rusher Jordan Ellis (12) to the NFL.  Several sophomores will need to step up in the secondary (two DB\u2019s drafted).  One massive help is that the Utes faced several elite PAC 12 QB\u2019s a year ago, including a trio of 1st round draft picks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This younger group should do fine, but it\u2019s a check for me, just in case.  Kicking is solid.

Utah Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

 8-1 with a split of games at Oklahoma St and home to TCU, giving them a 10-2 or 9-3 look overall.  My grid actually rates Kansas St a bit higher than Utah.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some players (QB, TE) must shake off rust, and the young RB\u2019s, CB\u2019s and pass rushers will need to deliver.  I don\u2019t think this is one of their best teams, but with Whittingham in charge, I do expect them to be a factor in the Big 12 race, maybe even securing that elusive playoff bid.
