Kansas State College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kansas St is 27-13 over the past three seasons.  Expect more of the same this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Kansas State NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Will Howard is gone, but there\u2019s massive excitement with Soph QB Avery Johnson, who is the dual threat this team covets.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He could be special, but other than having a solid lead RB, I have three offensive issues.  1st<\/sup>, I will be watching Johnson\u2019s completion %, which could take time to develop.  2nd<\/sup>, the OL is clearly weaker, with two off to the NFL and just one returning starter.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, TE\u2019s are important in this system, and they lost a good one to the NFL (2nd<\/sup> round).  Defensively, the run D disappointed last year, at 5.0 allowed per carry.  I expect improvement (4.5), but pass pressure could be reduced with their top two pass rushers gone.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defensive backfield is one of the best in the Big 12.  My final watch area is turnovers.  They\u2019ve been +23 in that area over the past two seasons.  Even modest reduction will cost them some \u201cfree\u201d points.

5-2 through the tougher two game road stand, and 9-2 before hosting Iowa St.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have some questions about this team that need answering, but the schedule says 9-3 and maybe even 10-2, giving them a spot in the Big 12 title game. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
