BYU College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was a long time coming, but BYU landed in a Power Five conference.  Sitting at 5-2, the Cougars went 0-5 down the stretch.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 2nd<\/sup> time in his tenure, Kalani Sitake has a place on my \u201ccoveted\u201d bottom five coach list.  That\u2019s not a good place to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 BYU NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I see no real change offensively for \u201924.  Yes, they have a transfer QB, but I\u2019m basically staying flat on my projections.  The same is nearly true defensively.  There are new DT\u2019s, which could negatively affect the run game and must be studied early in the season.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top two tacklers are gone, but that\u2019s not atypical for a team, and they may have found a decent pass rusher in a transfer move.  That\u2019s critical, as BYU had 11 sacks in \u201923, and an awful 26 sacks over their last 25 games.  The secondary is stable, as is the kicking game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BYU Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Despite having more stability than a number of teams in the Big 12, one thing stands out.  Coaches on my bottom five list tend to underachieve, and on average, half (2.6 of 5 to be exact) end up losing their jobs.  I think 5-7 is the ceiling, and 4-8 seems about right.  I\u2019ll know much more as games 1-5 play out.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
