Arizona State College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arizona State (ASU) was 2nd<\/sup> only to Colorado in the number of transfer players new to the program.  Recruiting violations under Herm Edwards forced the Sun Devils to re-staff the roster.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ASU went 3-9 last year and has once again turned over the roster.  With so many changes, real, consistent progress might take some time. <\/strong>   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Arizona State NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ASU\u2019s parade of QB\u2019s had just a 7-13 TD to interception ratio, contributing to a -11 turnover ratio.  A fix here would be of great value.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an expected mediocre pass attack, the run game becomes much more important.  I am projecting better #\u2019s (4.25, up from 3.95 per carry).  ASU did not even average 18 points per game last year, so they have a new coordinator.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With so many new faces, time is needed.  The defense is just as raw, and even younger.  There are likely six transfer starters on this side of the ball, including as many as four in the secondary.  My projections are about the same as last year, but fall clearly in the below average range.  Kicking could improve.

Another losing season, at about 4-8, and 3-9 is in play if the offense takes a step back.  There are just too many moving parts, and so patience is needed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
