Arizona College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arizona improved from 1-11 to 5-7 in year #2 for Jedd Fisch.  Beating Oklahoma in a bowl game last year got them to 10-3, and a massive raise in salary from 2.6 million to 7.5 million.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That kind of money can\u2019t be turned down, so I understand the move.  Brent Brennan went 14-11 in his last two seasons at SJ St (plus two bowl losses).  Can he keep Arizona\u2019s momentum going?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Arizona NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Arizona lost its top three RB\u2019s but this room could be sneaky good.  Listed as a backup, former San Jose St RB Corley could be someone special.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aerial game features a solid returning duo.  QB Fifita is just 5\u201911\u201d, but is deadly accurate.  6\u20195\u201d WR McMillian is getting NFL buzz.  The OL is decent.  I\u2019m not sure what to think about new coordinator Dino Babers (ex-Syracuse coach), but he\u2019s got a good unit to work with.  Defensively, Duane Akina is now in charge.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\u2019s had DC experience, but spent much of the last decade as a DB coach at Stanford, where the results began to taper off.  I like the back seven talent, but think the DL will be worse.  I have nothing overly positive or negative to say about the special team unit.

Arizona Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Even though I\u2019ve done this for four decades, handicapping the Big 12 is going to be tricky.  More than ever, I suggest setting team goals, and not overreacting to game results, but instead reacting to team performances vs. the goals (benchmarks) set.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I see coach Brennan as more of a build the program guy, and therefore they could struggle meeting season one expectations.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve set 8-4 as a ceiling, and think 7-5 is as much in play if not more.  Maybe because it\u2019s a non-conference game they can steal an early win at Kansas St, but that\u2019s a tough place to play.  I have tickets UNDER 8.5 and UNDER 8 wins<\/em><\/strong>, and while worried I still feel confident that there will be growing pains.
