NC State College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Expectations.  The last time NC State had them the Wolfpack failed to deliver.  With reduced expectations in \u201823, NC State beat all the top teams down the stretch to finish with nine wins.<\/strong>  Can they handle the limelight in \u201824? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 NC State NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The \u201923 stat sheet was quite modest.  NC State dominated down the stretch, yet the statistical profile did not change.  What DID change is going +9 in turnover margin over the last five games (+10 overall).  Usually, that regresses, although I expect them to remain in the plus column.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NC State was just 11th<\/sup> in ACC point offense.  That MUST improve, and I think it does with their offensive coordinator in year #2, a solid transfer QB, an above average WR unit, and an OL that I like.  The front seven defensively will not be as stout, especially without all-everything LB Payton Wilson (138 tackles, now in the NFL).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, any drop-off likely is not enough to move them into a freefall statistically.  This is one team that will need to prove itself in the kicking game.  The new guy is untested.  It\u2019s perhaps the biggest area of concern and the one that could make or break their season.  Yes, I care about special teams.

NC State Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no excuse for not meeting expectations this season.  My only concerns are finding a leader to replace LB Wilson, especially with some front seven depth issues, and what happens at PK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am a bit uncomfortable recommending 9-3, especially with my stat sheet projections, but I love the schedule pace and like the coordinators.<\/strong>  NC St may not win by margin much (see below), but as long as the kicking game does not implode, they can beat any team on their schedule.
