Clemson College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Has the sky really fallen?  Clemson was just 4-4 in ACC play, adjusting to a) two new coordinators, and b) their own unwillingness to take part in the transfer portal.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 will be a test case to see if Clemson\u2019s \u201ctraditional\u201d, old fashioned methods of developing and keeping its own talent still works. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Clemson NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

My projected rush #\u2019s were nearly perfect a year ago, so perhaps their overall record shouldn\u2019t have been that surprising.  Also, my 58% (improved from 61%) pass D projection was short, as the Tigers allowed just 52.5% (I use regular season stats only).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kicking was down a bit, but even turnovers (+3) was not the issue.  They lost three road games to ACC bowl teams, and also lost in overtime at home to FSU after the Tigers missed a 29-yard field goal in regulation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have no real issues offensively as long as RB Mafah and the top WR\u2019s stay healthy.  The OL is top ten material.  The run D did regress as expected in \u201923.  I don\u2019t think it gets back to traditional Clemson standards, so that could be an issue.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They lost a 1st<\/sup> round draft pick in CB Nate Wiggins but I still expect a decent pass D%.  All eyes will be on a freshman PK.  Like it or not, entrance into the newly expanded 12-team playoff format might depend on him.

10-2, but 9-3 is in play if kicking and\/or the DL lets them down.  A win at FSU should get them into the ACC title game.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A loss could put them at the mercy of whatever the ACC tiebreaker system is in a league of 17 teams.
