Vanderbilt College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Vanderbilt\u2019s stat sheet isn\u2019t pretty.  They are 12-69 the last decade inside the SEC, with Clark Lea 2-22.  He\u2019s 9-27 here, with his top two wins outside of the SEC by three at 3-9 Colorado State and by two over a then 1-11 UConn.  Is this his final chance? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Vanderbilt NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

 Much like New Mexico a year ago (brought in UAB\u2019s QB and coordinator), Vanderbilt poached New Mexico State.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

QB Pavia was electric, running and passing the Aggies to an amazing season.  His coordinator is now here, and Jerry Kill, the former New Mexico Head Coach is here as a consultant.  The lead RB returns, but he had modest stats.  The WR and TE units are the worst in the SEC, and that\u2019s an issue.  The OL looks a bit more cohesive.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanderbilt allowed nearly 40 points per game in the SEC, 6.15 yards-per-carry, and over 71% to opposing QB\u2019s.\u00a0 They had 12 defensive sacks in SEC play.\u00a0 Vanderbilt can\u2019t blame turnovers, as they were just -1 in SEC play.\u00a0 Purdue, TCU and Wyoming supply the three transfer starters.\u00a0 Any improvement isn\u2019t likely to be dramatic.\u00a0 The entire special team unit is gone!\u00a0 Where\u2019s the good news?\u00a0<\/strong>

3-9, and a coaching change.  It could be worse, but I like the potential at QB, and the offensive coaching staff is an upgrade.  If they do have some win chances, let\u2019s hope the new PK can deliver.  <\/strong>
