Tennessee College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Josh Heupel has us thinking 9-4 was a \u2018bad\u201d season after their 11-2 mark in \u201922.  There\u2019s plenty of optimism offensively, but some very real concern defensively. <\/strong> Let\u2019s unpack the roster heading into \u201924.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Tennessee NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Vols are very high on redshirt freshmen QB Iamaleava (28-45 last year, solid in bowl vs. Iowa).  The rest of the offense seems about the same, but RB depth is a big worry.  WR Squirrel White (165 pounds) is one of my favorites.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defense lost its top six tacklers.  The top two returnees each had just 35 tackles.  The secondary needs to be completely rebuilt.  Last year the run D excelled at 3.5-122.  I like the DT\u2019s, so perhaps they can stay near that range.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pass D was already high, at 67%, although points allowed wasn\u2019t bad at all.  I think the points allowed rises this season.  There\u2019s internal concern about the PK\u2019s on board.  That\u2019s obviously a must watch area.

Tennessee Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

 7-1 if they avoid any sort of upset, with games vs. NC St (60%), at Oklahoma (40+%), Florida (60+%) and Alabama (55%) pending.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like a number of SEC teams, that gives them a shot at the playoffs.\u00a0 9-3 is probably the safest prediction.\u00a0 I think this team has more questions (QB, RB, DB, PK) than answers, but the schedule layout is an asset.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>
