South Carolina College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shane Beamer pulled many an upset in \u2018\u201921 and \u201922, but pulled not a one upset last year.  They finished 5-7, losing once as a small favorite.  Like Kentucky, we\u2019re starting to see a ceiling for what the Gamecocks can accomplish. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 South Carolina NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The offense will look different in \u201924.  Either a redshirt freshman (4 pass attempts) or a wholly inaccurate two-time transfer QB will start.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The run game was absent in \u201923, at 3.25-97.  Former Arkansas RB Sanders comes over, and he was electric in \u201922, but mostly injured last year (209-3.4).  Transfers will fill three spots at WR (2) and TE.  The OL is a bit better, but they allowed 41 sacks a year ago so they need to improve.  I think this defense will look a bit better than the \u201923 version.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They need a pass rusher, and that means I\u2019ll be checking how incoming freshmen Dylan Stewart fares.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two more notes.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st, not only do they lose a good PK and return specialist, but also lose one of the NCAA\u2019s top coordinators.\u00a0 His replacement is a household name from the NFL, so maybe this works out?\u00a0 2nd, the Gamecocks went 4-4 in the SEC, but with a 208-256 point ratio (and an experienced QB).\u00a0 They have some ground to make up.\u00a0\u00a0

South Carolina Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

5-7.  The Gamecocks are 15-6 SU at home under Beamer, and a solid 8-4 in SEC home games.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That gives them a fighting chance at 6-6, but I think the talent is down at QB, and even with improvement, many positional areas grade out as average.<\/strong>  Beamer needs to pull off a couple of upsets this time around.
