LSU College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No one changes coaches more often than Brian Kelly.  All three coordinators are new, despite a 10-3 season with losses only to Florida St (neutral), and at Mississippi and Alabama.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers have the 12-team playoffs squarely on their minds.<\/strong>

2024 LSU NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 25-45 sack ratio from \u201922 improved to 31-22.  Four OL starters return, but gone will be the Heisman QB, Jaydon Daniels, who was an elite dual threat QB.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

QB Nussmeier paid his dues, but expect the run game to return to normalcy (5.0, 6.25 a year ago) without Daniels.  Two elite WR\u2019s are gone, but the portal saw them add enough talent to remain dangerous.  I\u2019m not sure what the RB room will look like, but I will chart it, recording data by level of opponent and RB rotation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest hire they made was stealing (for big $$$) Missouri\u2019s defensive coordinator Blake Baker.  LSU allowed a whopping 33 points per game in SEC play in \u201923, and the run D was often shredded.  The typically solid pass D% (mostly mid-50\u2019s) ballooned to 63.5%, inside and outside of the SEC.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another great hire was adding the DL coach from Texas.  My run D projection is down to 4.35 per carry, but I will keep the pass D% above 60%.  They\u2019ll be a new punter, but the PK is decent.

LSU Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Kelly is 20-7 here, and 18-6 in the regular season.\u00a0 I think they can reach 8-1 prior to a dangerous game at Florida, and if the new coordinators adjust quickly, 10-2 and a playoff berth is a reasonable outcome.\u00a0 <\/strong>I like the talent on Mississippi a bit more, but I like this schedule better.\u00a0\u00a0
