Arkansas College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was brutal playing in the SEC West.  Arkansas is 22-60 the last decade in SEC play, and 11-23 under Pittman.  He\u2019s on the coaching hot seat for \u201924. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Arkansas NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Partly due to the injury to RB Sanders, the usually solid run attack slumped from 4.95-226 to 3.65-143.  The backfield will be new in \u201924, and will improve.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

QB Green comes from Boise and he can run the ball.  RB Jackson comes from Utah, where he averaged 5.6 per carry.  Pittman prides himself on fielding a top OL (that\u2019s his forte from being a long time OL coach), but they allowed 47 sacks a year ago.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This unit looks average, and needs to be coached up.  One area that could improve is defensive sacks.  A transfer from Albany led the FCS in that department, and he\u2019ll be on my watch list all of September.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than that, I have my defensive projections staying flat from a year ago.  I like the new PK (Hawaii, successful there under windy conditions).  Overall, my keys include Green improving on his 11-9 TD to interception ratio, and improving the 29-47 sack ratio.

Arkansas Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Just what can Arkansas do to prove to the rest of the SEC that they can compete, week in and week out?  Offensively, it\u2019s up to new coordinator Bobby (the weasel) Petrino to get the most out of a potentially upgraded backfield.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defense looks average at best, but should be competitive.  I\u2019ll call for a split vs. A&M and Tennessee, but this probably looks like 5-6 before a trip to Missouri.  Two games where they could pull an upset are at home to LSU and at home to OL Miss.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They may need at least one upset here to make a bowl game.  As an aside, my conference win grid gives them a shot at 6-6.  With the season win total at just 4.5, OVER would be my prediction.<\/strong>
