Washington College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kalen Deboer hit the ground running with Washington (Wash) and never let up.  There were close calls.  They beat Oregon on a fluke (bad decision-making).  The survived vs. OSU when the Beavers (likely intentionally) held out players from the game in the 4th<\/sup> quarter.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A missed WSU PK and a made Husky PK at the buzzer won the Apple Cup.  They upset Oregon again to make the playoffs.  The offense was electric.  Deboer leaves, and the roster will be much different in \u201924.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Washington NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not a case of who left (10 drafted, 7 in the 1st three rounds), but who is left?  Every offensive starter is gone. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Rodgers has thrown for over 12,000 yards.  I expect 67% accuracy here.  RB Coleman comes with new coach Fisch and he\u2019s a more than capable starter.  WR Hunter (Cal) has NFL talent.  The OL is mostly untested, with two starters having never played, and even the transfer from Ohio State has but two starts in five seasons.  Injuries would be crippling to this offense.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve Belichick is the new defensive coordinator.  I have no idea how that will work out.  The DL is all new, with two key transfers (Montana State, Arizona) having starting experience.  I\u2019m keeping the run D flat (4.5 per carry) but of course that will be monitored.  The LB unit has one returning starter, with one other player with starting experience.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two starters return to the secondary, along with a former Arizona starter.\u00a0 Washington was a middle of the pack (PAC 12) defense a year ago and could earn similar status now.\u00a0 The kicking game IS in good hands.\u00a0\u00a0

Washington Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

7-5 (grid at 6.75).  That\u2019s UNDER 7.5 wins<\/em><\/strong>, which I have some tickets on, but a little too close for comfort after doing this write-up.  For those with under 7 tickets, I think it\u2019s worth keeping.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The road schedule is hard.  I like parts of this team (backfield, possibly the back seven, PK), but the OL is new, the DL is new, and depth is lacking.  I\u2019ll be watching Belichick\u2019s impact closely, and how all my projected numbers are faring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
