Oregon Ducks College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dan Lanning was a nice hire for Oregon, primarily because he brought the SEC mentality to the PAC 12.  That makes him even more valuable as Oregon shifts to play more physical teams.  The future looks bright.

2024 Oregon Ducks NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

QB Bo Nix will be missed, but Dillon Gabriel is one of the better NCAA QB\u2019s, with nearly as stout accuracy as Nix.  Playing in the tougher Big Ten (defensively), my run O projection is \u201clowered\u201d from 6.15 per carry to 5.4.  That\u2019s plenty good.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rest of the offense looks good, with nearly suitable replacements for a couple of stars lost.  I don\u2019t think we\u2019ll see as good a defense this year, although in the PAC 12, QB play was superb in \u201923.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found it incredible that Oregon allowed just 12 points per game to all PAC 12 teams not named Washington.  This side of the ball will look different, with six transfers slated to start.  The biggest impact will be in the secondary, where three pretty good transfers are stepping in.  My run D projection is a bit weaker, but still a respectable 4.0 per carry.  Oregon has faltered most years in the kicking game, which cost them in their 1st<\/sup> game vs. Washington, and then altered the game plan in the rematch.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d like to throw in an expletive<\/strong> here, but let\u2019s just say that they \u201cstole\u201d a PK that could solve their problems (13-14 last year at a school about 40 miles north of Eugene).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 
<\/span><\/div><\/span>Oregon Ducks Football 2024 Predicted Total Wins Prediction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

11-1?  Oregon and Texas are my 3rd and 4th rated teams as of 7\/25.  Hosting Ohio State puts them on near even terms with the Buckeyes.  Games at Michigan and Wisconsin are dangerous, but look for this team to be solidly included in the 12-team playoff discussion.    <\/strong>
