Philadelphia 76ers vs LA Clippers Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Los Angeles Clippers take cross-country trip to Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia for an interconference showdown with the 76ers.<\/p>\n

The Clippers are just trying to keep their heads above water in the Western Conference. After getting edged out in overtime against the Nuggets in Denver they sit at 22-24 on the season.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the 76ers bounced back after a slow start against the Orlando Magic and won 123-110 to improve to 26-18 overall. This will be the first of two head-to-head meetings between these squads who will meet again in late March.<\/p>\n

Unstoppable Embiid<\/h3>\n

Joel Embiid has been a man amongst boys recently as he’s scored 30 points or more in 13 of his last 15 games. But his last performance may have taken the cake. The big man dropped 50 points on the Orlando Magic’s head in only 27 minutes while snagging 12 rebounds and swatting 3 shots back into their faces. It’s not a coincidence that the 76ers have won 11 games during Embiid’s 15 games of dominance. Embiid is having an All-Star caliber season with 27.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists a game.<\/p>\n

Matisse Thybulle, Shake Milton and Danny Green have all been ruled out for Friday nights game against LA. As a team the 6ers only score 107.5 points a game ranking them 19th in the league. Their defense has been much more consistent, they allow only 105.7 points per game, good for 7th in the league. Going forward, Philadelphia has a great chance to make hay as they play 6 of their next 7 games at home against teams like the Clippers, Pelicans and Kings.<\/p>\n

Clippers Losing Their Grip<\/h3>\n

The Los Angeles Clippers have played with a skeleton crew for the entire season without Kawhi Leonard and without Paul George since December 6th. The Clippers hung tough and won their first 3 games after George went down with an elbow injury. However they have now lost 6 of their last 9 games, bringing them to 9-12 overall without PG13. In even worse news, the timetable for George’s return has been extended by at least a few weeks.<\/p>\n

To make matters even worse, Marcus Morris and Nicholas Batum are both questionable for Friday nights affair in Philly. Ivan Zubac led the way last time out against the Denver Nuggets with 32 points on 15 of 19 from the field. Reggie Jackson also had a 28 point & 12 assist double double in the losing effort. The Clips are 6th in defensive efficiency and 11th in points allowed with 106.5 a game. However, they can barely muster up any offense with only 105.4 points a game, ranking 25th in the league.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia 76ers vs LA Clippers Prediction<\/h3>\n

The Philadelphia 76ers enter this game as 8-point home favorites with the total sitting at 213 points. The Clippers are 1-5 against the spread in their last six meetings in Philadelphia. Both teams can bring it on defense, but the Clippers are severally limited when it comes to scoring.<\/p>\n

One things for sure, nobody on the Clippers or in the league stands a chance at stopping Joel Embiid right now. Embiid put up 36 points and 14 rebounds again Zubac last season, so he must be licking his chops. Both teams are top ten cashing unders this season, so I did consider making the play under 213 points. However, the last eight Philadelphia victories have covered this 8-point spread. We will roll with Embiid and the 76ers on Friday night in Philly.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia 76ers vs LA Clippers Preview from GoldSheet<\/h2>\n

Philly C Joel Embiid is coming off a career-high 50-point outburst against Orlando and have to figure a major game on tap for the 76er big man considering LA pivot Ivaca Zubac just gave up 49 pts. to Denver\u2019s Nikola Jokic on Wednesday. Clearly not a good matchup, and recent form indicates Philadelphia is becoming a bit of a margin team, covering five-straight laying 8\u00bd or more, also ranking 2nd in net efficiency rating over the past 13 games.<\/p>\n

The Clippers have been one of the least effective offensive teams in the NBA this season, ranking 27th in offensive efficiency despite scoring 114 in regulation in Denver. Granted that\u2019s to do with the absence of Kawhi Leonard all season and Paul George for 20 games (and counting).<\/p>\n

The Sixers have won 11 of 14, and it\u2019s difficult to trust Los Angeles side that\u2019s also the league\u2019s worst rebounding team over the past 15 games and 27th on the season. Play Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
