New York, despite the names at the top of its lineup, has been one of the worst first-inning teams in the MLB. New York averages just .26 runs per first inning. The Yankees will face lefty Tyler Anderson, whom they have not seen very frequently. Based on the Yankees&#8217; inability to get it going in the first, we expect them to be held in check for three outs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rays have been better in the first inning, averaging .6 runs per game in the first game. However, today we expect them to be kept in check by Clarke Schmidt. Schmidt has a .330 xwOBA against the current Rays lineup, and Schmidt does his best work the first time through the batting order. However, they have a tough matchup against budding star Garrett Crochet, and we anticipate Crochet retiring the Phillies before they can score a run. New York, despite the names at the top of its lineup, has been one of the worst first-inning teams in the MLB. New York averages just .26 runs per first inning. The Yankees will face lefty Tyler Anderson, whom they have not seen very frequently. Based on the Yankees' inability to get it going in the first, we expect them to be held in check for three outs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The Rays have been better in the first inning, averaging .6 runs per game in the first game. However, today we expect them to be kept in check by Clarke Schmidt. Schmidt has a .330 xwOBA against the current Rays lineup, and Schmidt does his best work the first time through the batting order. Considering Schimdt's ability to have success the first time through the order, we like this game as a great NRFI candidate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<iframe src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_nwP3S7DTfg?origin=https:\/\/www.wagertalk.com'><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Chicago White Sox at Philadelphia Phillies (-125)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The Phillies are one of the best first-inning teams in the MLB, averaging .89 runs in the first frame. However, they have a tough matchup against budding star Garrett Crochet, and we anticipate Crochet retiring the Phillies before they can score a run. Crochet, a lefty, has a dominant four-seemer and a great slider, and the Phillies' first-inning numbers are inflated after a big outburst against the Rockies two days ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Spencer Turnbull has been a pleasant surprise for the Phillies so far this season, and he gets a great matchup against the White Sox today. Chicago has one of the worst offenses in the MLB, but they have had success in the first, averaging .5 runs in the first frame.
