The fairways are a bit tight, and the rough should be much longer than what we saw last week so they can\u2019t just bomb it and have a great lie wherever it lands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The greens have some tiers and movement to them, but overall the course isn\u2019t too difficult. The wind looks like it will be calm on Thursday with it picking up on Friday and Saturday, but as of now it looks like the afternoon guys on Thursday will have an advantage. There\u2019s no doubt that this is just a practice week for next week, and winning is probably not really the motivation for him this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s played here on time in the last 10 years and he missed the cut, and he traditionally doesn\u2019t play the week before The Masters so this is different for him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He still hasn\u2019t finished better than 19th on the PGA Tour this season so I can\u2019t invest in him this week at this price. He\u2019s 10th in the field in total strokes gained on PGA Tour events in this field the last three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Collin Morikawa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t even know if people are betting on Morikawa at this point, but his season has been a disappointment as he has yet to finish better than 14th. His putting has always been an issue, and it is again as he\u2019s -0.16 the last three months, but his driving distance is below average and that could be a problem on this course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s never played here, and surely he\u2019s teeing it up this week to see if he can find some magic in his game, but I wouldn\u2019t bet money on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Corey Conners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m going to go out on a limb and say most bettors and fantasy golf players will have Corey Conners in their lineup. He\u2019s won here twice, never missed the cut and has made every cut this year as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, he\u2019s priced as a top-seven guy, and he hasn\u2019t cracked the top 12 yet this season, and outside of his two wins here he\u2019s finished 35th, 14th and 26th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s -0.35 strokes gained putting this year, and with as many people putting him in their lineups as I think there will be, I see the potential for a big letdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texas Open: DraftKings Darlings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mathias Schmid $6300<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He got off to a miserable start to the season, but he\u2019s made the cut in four straight tournaments with all finishes being 26th or better. He played here last year and finished 46th so I\u2019ll hope he continues the momentum into this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seamus Power $6500<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Power has made the cut in 8 out of 9 tournaments this year, and 6 straight and at this price it\u2019s absolutely worth a spot in your lineup. He isn\u2019t great at any one part of the game, but he isn\u2019t terrible at one part either. Just make the cut and get us weekend points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maverick McNealy $7400<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McNealy has made the cut in 8 out of 9 tournaments, and he offers us some upside as well as he has three top 15 finishes in the last five tournaments. The fairways are a bit tight, and the rough should be much longer than what we saw last week so they can\u2019t just bomb it and have a great lie wherever it lands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The greens have some tiers and movement to them, but overall the course isn\u2019t too difficult. The wind looks like it will be calm on Thursday with it picking up on Friday and Saturday, but as of now it looks like the afternoon guys on Thursday will have an advantage. Expect the winning score to be around -15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texas Open Field<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>There are some big names playing this week with McIlroy, Aberg, Spieth, Homa, Matsuyama and Morikawa teeing it up, but we have to be careful as we don\u2019t know what the motivation for these guys will be with The Masters being next week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Guys that don\u2019t have an invite to The Masters next week will be going for broke, and Billy Horschel in particular will surely be taking chances on every hole as he\u2019s played in every Masters since 2018, but hasn\u2019t qualified for this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strokes Gained Last Three Months (PGA Tour Only)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Ludvig Aberg 1.72<br>Christian Bezuidenhout 1.58<br>Hideki Matsuyama 1.45<br>Alex Noren 1.42<br>Jordan Spieth 1.41<br>Byeong Hun An 1.40<br>Brian Harman 1.38<br>Harris English 1.36<br>Erik Van Rooyen 1.28<br>Rory McIlroy<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<iframe src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5FvqP-PgEi0?origin=https:\/\/www.wagertalk.com'><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texas Open: Players That Can Trip You Up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rory McIlroy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s the betting favorite again, and I think he comes up short of expectations and value again. There\u2019s no doubt that this is just a practice week for next week, and winning is probably not really the motivation for him this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s played here on time in the last 10 years and he missed the cut, and he traditionally doesn\u2019t play the week before The Masters so this is different for him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He still hasn\u2019t finished better than 19th on the PGA Tour this season so I can\u2019t invest in him this week at this price. He\u2019s 10th in the field in total strokes gained on PGA Tour events in this field the last three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Collin Morikawa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t even know if people are betting on Morikawa at this point, but his season has been a disappointment as he has yet to finish better than 14th. His putting has always been an issue, and it is again as he\u2019s -0.16 the last three months, but his driving distance is below average and that could be a problem on this course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s never played here, and surely he\u2019s teeing it up this week to see if he can find some magic in his game, but I wouldn\u2019t bet money on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Corey Conners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m going to go out on a limb and say most bettors and fantasy golf players will have Corey Conners in their lineup. He\u2019s won here twice, never missed the cut and has made every cut this year as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>However, he\u2019s priced as a top-seven guy, and he hasn\u2019t cracked the top 12 yet this season, and outside of his two wins here he\u2019s finished 35th, 14th and 26th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s -0.35 strokes gained putting this year, and with as many people putting him in their lineups as I think there will be, I see the potential for a big letdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texas Open: DraftKings Darlings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mathias Schmid $6300<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He got off to a miserable start to the season, but he\u2019s made the cut in four straight tournaments with all finishes being 26th or better. He played here last year and finished 46th so I\u2019ll hope he continues the momentum into this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seamus Power $6500<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Power has made the cut in 8 out of 9 tournaments this year, and 6 straight and at this price it\u2019s absolutely worth a spot in your lineup. He isn\u2019t great at any one part of the game, but he isn\u2019t terrible at one part either. Just make the cut and get us weekend points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maverick McNealy $7400<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>McNealy has made the cut in 8 out of 9 tournaments, and he offers us some upside as well as he has three top 15 finishes in the last five tournaments.
