The Keys to The Game: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Will Iowa\u2019s low accuracy QB have success vs. Tennessee\u2019s poor pass defense?\u00a0 Can Iowa\u2019s rush game wear down Tennessee\u2019s defense?\u00a0 What game plan will Tennessee have with the new QB, and can it be run at the same frenetic pace that they usually employ?\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How will RB Sampson fare?\u00a0 Can Tennessee\u2019s pass rush deliver, possibly at less than full strength?\u00a0 Finally, is there any way Tennessee can keep this severe penalty differential in check?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Pick: Citrus Bowl Prediction And BETTING PICK!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This chess match is one of my favorite handicaps of the bowl season.\u00a0 I took Iowa +8 earlier in the week, before the news of Milton.\u00a0 The line is either a soft 7, or a 6.5 pushing 7 right now.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taking seven points is my recommendation.\u00a0 Maybe Iowa\u2019s vanilla offense will fail, but even if inconsistent, I think one or two splash pass plays are available vs. Tennessee\u2019s pass defense.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in Iowa\u2019s favor is their fundamentally sound defense, which will face a QB who may find the going rough.\u00a0 The main worry is Tennessee\u2019s team speed, which shows up at WR and in the pass rush.\u00a0 Let\u2019s ride old school in this game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NCAAF Bowl Coverage: WagerTalk Has It All<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking for even more college football coverage? There is no cap or limit, including from daily to long-term, and the discount is automatic with no coupon code needed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Citrus Bowl Predictions and Best Bets:  Iowa Overview <\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Iowa\u2019s offensive troubles are well documented.\u00a0 In Big Ten play they averaged about 14.5 points per game.\u00a0 They averaged a paltry 13 1<sup>st<\/sup> downs per game.\u00a0 QB Hill was pressed into action at the end of September.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s completed just over 49% of his passes, with five touchdowns and six interceptions.\u00a0 RB Williams was strong, averaging 4.95 per carry.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>RB Johnson did not reach four yards-per-carry.\u00a0 Overall, for all games, Iowa \u201cimproved\u201d to 3.9 per carry.\u00a0 This could be a problem vs. Tennessee\u2019s improved run defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Iowa Defensive Analysis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Coaching continuity on the defensive side of the ball has produced consistently solid results.\u00a0 Defensive interceptions were down this year, but historically, the Hawkeyes are top five in this metric.\u00a0 For the 4<sup>th<\/sup> year in a row, the run defense was in the 3.3 to 3.4 yards allowed per carry range.\u00a0 Penn State ran 57-215.\u00a0 Wisconsin ran 28-105. \u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>In the Big Ten Title game (where Iowa\u2019s offense was completely outclassed), Michigan ran just 32-104, with the figures corrected for sacks.\u00a0 Most other teams were held way down.\u00a0 Tennessee is a step up in class and athleticism, but as you will see below, will be missing their top two RB\u2019s.\u00a0 For at least the 6<sup>th<\/sup> straight season, Iowa\u2019s pass defense was at 58% or lower.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s figure was 56%, and yards-per-reception at a fantastic number of under nine yards per catch.\u00a0 Iowa\u2019s kicker slumped to 19-27.\u00a0 The sack ratio was mediocre at 27-28.\u00a0 They have a solid kick returner.\u00a0 Finally, they hold a +306 penalty yardage edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Citrus Bowl Video Picks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n<iframe src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ohFIBmnbYQk?origin=https:\/\/www.wagertalk.com'><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Citrus Bowl Picks:  How's Tennessee Look?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Tennessee averaged 47.5 points per game in 2022, mostly with Henson Hooker at QB.\u00a0 The offense was held to 31.5 points per game in 2023, and just 24 points per game in the SEC.\u00a0 With Milton out, 6\u20196\u201d freshman Nico Iamaleava takes over.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>He was 16-26, seeing action only in mop-up duty vs. very weak teams.\u00a0 This could be an issue.\u00a0 It\u2019s too bad the top RB\u2019s will miss this game, as the Vols ran at a 5.7 per carry clip in 2023.\u00a0 I like RB Sampson (471 yards, 5.5 per carry), so let\u2019s see what he can do vs. this solid defense, one that should not have to defend the pass quite as much without QB Milton.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Tennessee schemes well offensively, so this will be interesting.\u00a0 Once porous vs. rush attacks, Tennessee has shown great progress in this area.\u00a0 They allowed just 3.55 per carry in 2022, and 3.5 this season.\u00a0 It\u2019s hard to compare SEC style rush attacks with the Big Ten.\u00a0 I believe Iowa will be slowed down, but can achieve their seasonal average in this spot.\u00a0 Tennessee would have had the rushing edge at full strength, but that\u2019s not the case.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>This is the 4<sup>th<\/sup> straight season where the pass defense had some issues.\u00a0 The 2023 version regressed to 67%.\u00a0 Luckily, this is about the bottom of the barrel for QB\u2019s they will have faced.\u00a0 UConn passed 25-42, but scored three points.\u00a0 Vandy passed 21-32 and scored 24 points.\u00a0 Amazingly, Iowa\u2019s QB should have some success in this spot.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Kicking was solid at 19-24.\u00a0 The sack ratio markedly improved to 36-18.\u00a0 One of their top three sack specialists is in the portal, and another is listed as playing, but did not suit up in their last game.\u00a0 How fast does Tennessee run their offense?\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>For the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> straight season, time of possession was at -11:30.\u00a0 That\u2019s an amazing figure.\u00a0 One final note.\u00a0 Tennessee was penalized for 371 more yards than their opponents.\u00a0 The penalty disparity numbers for these teams is quite large.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.wagertalk.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/ddh20221112043_mizz_at_tenn-e1668780481737.jpg\" alt=\"citrus bowl\" class=\"wp-image-13509\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Citrus Bowl Best Bets -
