Music City Bowl Predictions and Best Bets: Auburn Overview <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lead QB Thorne was 62.6% with a 15-9 ratio.\u00a0 Players are going to be missing on Maryland\u2019s defense, but as of 12\/26, I\u2019m only projecting 15-26, for 170+ yards.\u00a0 He brings a rushing dynamic to the table and I expect 30+ rushing yards in this game.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

RB Hunter (865.5.9 per carry) needs to be a very important part of the game plan.\u00a0 Maryland\u2019s run defense surprisingly improved in 2023, so this will be a nice battle to watch unfold.\u00a0 There\u2019s not been much trust in the WR unit, but two targets are capable of making plays in the short to middle range of the field.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auburn has had five weeks to get over the Alabama loss, and needs to unwrap this offense more than what they have done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can Auburn’s Defense Hold Fast?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Defensively, the Tigers had a dismal performance vs. the run in 2022.\u00a0 They only slightly improved this year, to 4.65 allowed per carry.\u00a0 I suspect Maryland will try and establish the run due to their opt-outs (see below), so here\u2019s another run game challenge.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auburn\u2019s pass defense was average, which was a slight disappointment.\u00a0 It might improve here, but only due to Maryland inserting a raw QB.\u00a0 Kicking was perfect at 13-13.\u00a0 The sack ratio was 28-21.\u00a0 The 3rd<\/sup> down defense was stout, but two CB\u2019s are in the portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
