Washington Wizards vs Oklahoma City Thunder Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Thunder travel to Washington to try and break their four game losing streak, and they\u2019ll face the Wizards who come in as a -9 favorite against with the total hanging around 217. The good news for these teams is that their rosters are healthy, and both have full lineups now, but the bad news is that these two teams have combined for only five wins since Christmas. One will have to come out on top, but I\u2019m looking for profit making opportunities for us in this game, so let\u2019s dive in.<\/p>\n

The Thunder and the Under<\/h3>\n

OKC has lost six out of seven with their only win coming against a depleted New York Knicks team, and they are struggling to score for sure. They\u2019ve scored under 100 points in five out of six games which is almost impossible in today\u2019s NBA, and in fact they are 5-0 on their team total under in the last five games. For the year, they only have three players that average over double digit in points\u2026 Gilgeous-Alexander 21.9, Dort 16.3, Giddy 11.1, but their defense is actually pretty good as they rank 10th in field goal percentage allowed and 12th in points allowed. The stunning stat for the Thunder is that despite their lack of scoring, they are actually undervalued by the books as they have the second best against the spread record in the NBA this season at 25-14. Wizards Woes<\/h3>\n

The Wizards appear to be a little clunky as they got the band back together with Kuzma, Beal and Dinwiddie only to go 4-5 since December 23, and they\u2019re wins are not very impressive as they beat a Cavs team missing most starters, the Knicks, the Hornets by three, and the terrible Magic by only two. There aren\u2019t any trends against the spread or with Totals that stand out, but the eye test tells me they just aren\u2019t playing cohesive basketball, especially on defense. They\u2019ve given up 120 and 130 to Chicago twice, 114 to Houston in a loss, 121 to Charlotte in a win, and even 102 to Orlando is not a good defensive performance as that team struggles to score. Kuzma has been playing inspired ball recently, especially on the rebounding end, and Beal is always solid, but Dinwiddie and the supporting cast have not given much support and the results have shown it.<\/p>\n

Washington Wizards vs Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction<\/h3>\n

I can\u2019t ignore the lack of scoring that OKC has shown recently, so I\u2019ll take the Under in this game. Washington\u2019s offense is sputtering, and four out of the last five games for the Thunder have come in at 194 or under. Washington should get the win, but I can\u2019t lay that many points on them in a game I see as low scoring. Look for some bad offense tonight and roll with the Under.<\/p>\n

Washington Wizards vs Oklahoma City Thunder Preview from GoldSheet<\/h2>\n

Washington won the first meeting 101-99 in Oklahoma City but failed to cover as a 6\u00bd-point road favorite back on Nov. 26. The Thunder have lost six of their last seven but have covered four of five and 10 of the last 13 by playing the sixth best defense in the 13 game stretch (yielding 107 pts. per 100 possessions). The Wizards have lost three straight spread decisions and are just 6-12 straight up last 18 and 9-17-1 against the points in last 27. Washington is ranked 23rd in net rating differential in the past 14 games, 27th on defense in that span.<\/p>\n

You wouldn\u2019t know anything was wrong looking at Wizards G Bardley Beal and F Kyle Kuzma\u2019s combined 54 ppg and 48% shooting over the last seven games. Thunder G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been in a bit of shooting slump (33% his last five), as has Lu Dort (28% last five), but Washington\u2019s D (or lack thereof) should help them break out.<\/p>\n
