Portland Trailblazers point guard Malcolm Brogdon has taken full advantage of the injury to rookie point guard Scoot Henderson with an average of 22 points, 10.5 assists and 7 rebounds in his last two games.<\/p>\n
His minutes have also gone through the roof with season highs of 39 and 44 minutes. What has our attention here are the potential assists with 20 and 21 in the last two games. Admittedly, one of these games did go to overtime but Brogdon only recorded one assist in those five overtime minutes.<\/p>\n
The Blazers are extremely thin at the guard position as shooting guard Anfernee Simons recovers from thumb surgery.<\/p>\n
The Sacramento Kings are also dealing with an injured point guard as De’Aaron Fox has already been ruled out tonight after missing the last two games with an ankle injury.<\/p>\n
Fox and Davion Mitchell are both active defenders and this gives the Kings one less body to throw at Brogdon.<\/p>\n
The Kings have lost back-to-back games the Houston Rockets and starting point guard Fred VanVleet recorded 12 and 5 assists in those games.<\/p>\n
The Blazers need Brogdon to play these extended minutes because of their lack of options at the guard position. And while the Kings are favored by -8 I don’t see a blowout without Fox on the court.<\/p>\n\n
