German Bundesliga Match Betting Preview for September 2-3<\/h2>\n

Augsburg vs Bochum | Saturday September 2 | 9:30am ET<\/h2>\n

Bochum played a solid match against Dortmund drawing 1-1 at home last weekend which was a huge improvement from their opening match where they were blown out 0-5 at Stuttgart. Against Dortmund they generated 17 shots with six on goal but at Stuttgart, they managed just four shots, one single shot on goal and no corners.<\/p>\n

The concern is that they may be continuing their road form from last year which was absolutely dreadful. Bochum went 2-3-12 away from home last season with a -28 goal differential scoring a total of just 12 goals in 17 matches.<\/p>\n

Their differential was the worst in the league and their goals scored was the fewest. Augsburg have the same results as Bochum to start the season, a draw and a loss, but a road loss at Bayern is not a bad loss.<\/p>\n

It would have been very surprising if it had been any other result. At home in their first match, they played in a shootout with Monchengladbach finishing in a 4-4 draw. Augsburg created 2.53 xG in the match on 20 shots with eight on goal and the Borussia side are certainly better than this Bochum side.<\/p>\n

If Augsburg can create anywhere near the chances they did against Gladbach, I simply don\u2019t see Bochum keeping up. Aside from their actual record, Bochum generated exactly 1.0 xG per match on the road last season which was the 2nd lowest total in the league.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Augsburg ML or -0.5 -110 DraftKings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monchengladbach were just beaten soundly by Leverkusen 0-3 at home so it\u2019s only natural to look at this match and think Bayern should be able to do at least that too. But I think this line is a big overreaction to that match and had Gladbach won or drawn, I wonder where this line would be?<\/p>\n

Bayern won vs Augsburg last weekend 3-1 as Harry Kane seems to be finding his place on the team who will only get better as the season progresses. Now with two big wins to start the season with a 7-1 goal differential, everything on the surface says take Bayern here.<\/p>\n

Sometimes when you are supposed to zig, the best thing to do is zag. I like taking the team that you are supposed to want nothing to do with. There is a reason bookmakers are in business.<\/p>\n

You will be surprised to hear this, but Gladbach have Bayern\u2019s number. The Borussia side has won or drawn each of the last five meetings. Going back even further, Bayern has covered this number just twice in the last 12 H2H meetings.
\nGladbach will certainly have to clean up their act defensively as their numbers are not pretty, but this is a game they \u2018get up\u2019 for and I expect the atmosphere to be electric. I don\u2019t see a blowout happening here.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Monchengladbach +1.75 -115 DraftKings<\/strong><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig | Sunday 9\/3 | 12:30pm ET<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s a new season, but it\u2019s hard to ignore Union Berlin\u2019s home record from last year. They were the only team in the Bundesliga that didn\u2019t lose at home, going 11-6-0 with a 30:11 goal differential. That means they won or drew against all the big boys: Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen and this very same Leipzig side.
\nThis year they have gotten off to a fast start winning both of their Bundesliga matches by the score of 4-1, beating Mainz at home and then Darmstadt on the road, scoring three goals after a red card mind you.<\/p>\n

They will be without young American Brendan Aaronson now though, but he was a newcomer this year, arriving on transfer in the summer from EPL side Leeds.<\/p>\n

Leipzig started their season a week prior to the Bundesliga campaign as the beat Bayern in the Super Cup to earn a piece of hardware. It was a great way to open their season, but they followed that up with a 2-3 loss at Leverkusen who appear to be a very good side this year.<\/p>\n

They did return to form last weekend winning 5-1 over Stuttgart, scoring all five goals in the 2nd half, showcasing their scoring ability and how quickly they can pile it on. That win did come at home though and I worry they won\u2019t be able to follow that up on the road where they went 7-4-6 last season including a loss here in Berlin.<\/p>\n

Until we see Union Berlin lose at home though, it\u2019s hard to pass up getting a head start on them to at least earn a draw in this match. However, Union Berlin appear to have Leipzig\u2019s number at home as they have beaten them three straight seasons.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Union Berlin ML or -0.5 +210 DraftKings<\/strong><\/p>\n
