North Texas football Preview 2023: <\/strong> North Texas Picks for Betting<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

North Texas football made the CUSA title game<\/strong> a year ago, but that wasn\u2019t good enough for the Mean Green to keep their coach (44-37 in the regular season). Eric Morris is another offensive-minded hire, and his task is to navigate the conference change without losing ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Texas Football Predictions: AREAS TO WATCH<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The strength of this team could be the run game, so it will be interesting to see if they feature the run game more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t see much else to report, although the transfer QB will be vetted out to see if the transition is seamless. Seldom has North Texas produced even an average defense. Six of the top seven tacklers are gone<\/strong> but there is hope with the pass rush. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scheme is changing, but I do not expect massive improvement. Kicking was great (18-21) a year ago. Reports are that the new guy struggled in the Spring. That\u2019s not a good sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Texas 2023 Predictions, North Texas Schedule:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

North Texas opens with Cal, which might not be in a position to exploit this defense. North Texas beat FIU 52-14 a year ago. If these 1st two games show cracks, that could be a warning sign for the entire season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I expect a high scoring game at Louisiana Tech<\/strong>. I\u2019ll pre-check both QB\u2019s, both defenses, and the kicking game. Games 4-6 are vs. 7-4 Abilene Christian, at Navy and home to Temple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Could North Texas shock us all with a 5-1 record to this point?<\/strong> The competition ramps up after that. Road games at Tulane and SMU look tough, but can they at least split home games vs. Memphis and UTSA? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019ll likely be dogs in both. Closing games are at Tulsa and home to UAB. The history is poor in both cases, but like North Texas, they have new staffs and maybe even more areas of concern?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Texas Football Bottom Line: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Despite the favorable schedule, I\u2019m currently closer to 5-7 than 6-6<\/strong>. I expect close games, but can the QB win in the clutch, can the defense get rebuilt faster than expected, and will kicking cost them a game or two? I\u2019ll say more one I have the full AAC schedule grid completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Texas Football HANDICAPPING TIP<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll use games 1-2 to help guide me. With a real concern about their kicking game<\/strong>, my initial thought is fade more than follow, but I\u2019ll check for variance between my projections and the early results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
