As noted in \u201822, Chip Kelly finally shaped the roster to his liking<\/strong>. Losing to Arizona took the steam out of the season, but only once was UCLA not in a position to win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong players are gone, but solid transfers were added<\/strong>. UCLA will be an interesting watch in their final year residing in the Pac 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCLA Football Predictions: AREAS TO WATCH<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Losing their QB and RB seems devastating, but the three-way QB battle is between some solid prospects, and the UCLA football<\/strong> run game will remain stout<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WR play may regress a bit, but I really like the California portal transfer. The OL isn\u2019t perfect but has talent. UCLA\u2019s top two sackers return<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team allowed 67% a year ago and I project a still high 63.5% this year. My biggest concern is the new defensive coordinator<\/strong>. I\u2019ll chart him OFTEN to see if I am too tough on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCLA Football <\/strong>2023 Predictions, UCLA Schedule:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If UCLA wins at San Diego State, they\u2019ll be 3-0 before heading to Utah. The best time to play Utah is early in the year, but the Utes will have revenge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019ll be no letdown with the bye week next. I don\u2019t expect a win at Oregon State, but a mini-win streak could come after that as long as UCLA doesn\u2019t letdown if off a loss. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s 4-0 time playing at Stanford, hosting Colorado, seeking revenge at Arizona and hosting Arizona State. Next up is a game at USC<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hope is that with a Utah win<\/strong> (and no games vs. Oregon\/Wash), a win here could find them in the Pac 12 title game<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If not, their final Pac 12 game is vs. Cal, a team who would love to send UCLA off to the Big Ten with a loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCLA Football Bottom Line: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A soft 9-3<\/strong> (my Pac 12 grid says 8-4). I know UCLA lost some talent, but are people underestimating the portal replacements? I fully believe Kelly has the system in place that can survive roster changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one concern is the defensive coordinator<\/strong>. If he\u2019s not the answer at least the fans will see plenty of high scoring games, just like last season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will say this however, Chip Kelly was completely at ease at the Pac 12 media session. His on-screen transformation has clearly improved by leaps and bounds over the past few seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCLA Football HANDICAPPING TIP<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The easiest call in the world was fading UCLA if not a rush pick last season with their High School early schedule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That happened only once, but it was a best bet winner. I\u2019ll look vs. again if they are not a rush pick. I\u2019ll monitor the defense with everything else, save for the look vs. when they head to Corvallis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
