The Pac 12 has had a nasty habit of eating their own<\/strong>. Oregon and Utah traded knocking each other out of the playoffs, and last year, Utah did the same to USC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don\u2019t know the Pac 12 media deal, so we don\u2019t know the future of this conference. We do know USC and UCLA are leaving. Will the Trojans leave with a bang or a whimper?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USC Football Predictions: AREAS TO WATCH<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Defense, defense and defense. In Riley\u2019s 1st year, he dominated the portal with a plethora of offensive stars. Last year\u2019s defense was thin<\/strong>, and allowed 4.8 and 64.5% BEFORE they imploded vs. Tulane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I show seven potential impactful defensive transfers, including four potential DL starters. I\u2019ll chart all defensive numbers closely (as should my readers), but thus far I\u2019ve only slightly improved the numbers. I will point out that USC was among the leaders in defensive sacks<\/strong>, and that could continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The offense looks fine to me and that means trouble for their opponents. Most teams coming off a +22 turnover ratio regress. I still expect a plus ratio, but I\u2019ll track if games get closer with a reduction of \u201cfree points\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USC Football <\/strong>2023 Predictions, USC Schedule:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Based on projected Power numbers, their five toughest opponents are clearly in the 2nd half of the season. I expect a 6-0 start<\/strong> unless the defense is not doing their part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Realistically, only the game at Arizona State should even be remotely close. On 10\/14 they go to Notre Dame. I haven\u2019t written their preview yet, but am looking forward to seeing if the Irish defense can slow down USC. USC has double revenge when they host Utah next<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201csandwich\u201d game is at Cal, but I still expect a win before USC hosts Washington. They haven\u2019t played much lately but in the past, this was an underdog dominated series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a game at Oregon up next, there\u2019s no chance to take a breather<\/strong>. USC closes hosting UCLA. The Bruins could have won last year\u2019s game. What will be USC\u2019s motivation be prior to this affair?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USC Football Bottom Line: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

8-0, not counting games at ND (60-40), Utah (70-30), Washington (60-40 or lower) and at Oregon (50-50). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10-2 for USC football sounds like the best assessment<\/strong>, but more is possible if the defense exceeds expectations in year #2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USC Football HANDICAPPING TIP<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A lean plus vs. Stanford, but a small concern if too big a favorite at Notre Dame<\/strong>. It\u2019s dog or pass in the Washington game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
