Tennessee is on a 3 game winning streak including an extremely impressive win over Arizona. Alabama is a roller coaster of greatness and mediocrity. Home court in the SEC really means something though so here is how I break down this matchup.<\/p>\n Tennessee has a great offense and they have a great mix of older and younger players. Tennessee plays a fast pace and gets all of their players involved sharing the ball. Kennedy Chandler is the scoring leader but it really does not do this team justice to point out high scorers, as this is one of the most balanced teams in the league.<\/p>\n John Fulkerson should be the key in this game. He is one of the most touted big men in the country but is only averaging 9.9 points per game. If Tennessee can feed him low and get him going it could be a long day for the Tide. Tennessee plays defense well, they are one of the best. They hold opponents to just 44.8% shooting.<\/p>\n As for Alabama, they have a higher shooting percentage but they have not played the tougher schedule. They can rise up at times but they can also vanish at times. They play defense well, holding opponents to just barely under the national average of 49.7%. Alabama has been inconsistent but the home court should give them a boost. Alabama is missing James Rojas and Nimari Burnett but have been shooting well recently.<\/p>\n Tennessee’s great defense vs Alabama’s better offense, Tennessee’s average offense vs Alabama’s lesser defense, this seems like a deadlock both ways. I see Tennessee’s big man John Fulkerson’s involvement and Alabama’s home court as the deciding factors here. If John Fulkerson has 12+ points turn out the lights. Likewise, if Alabama’s Coleman Coliseum gives the team a boost it could be a tipping point for the Tide.<\/p>\n In the end my numbers have Tennessee -4 and I will recommend taking the more balanced, healthier and consistent team on the road plus the four points.
