Pitcher Prop Prediction 1: James Paxton Over 16.5 (-120)<\/h2>\n

Boston Red Sox starter James Paxton is having an outstanding 2023 campaign with a 3-1 record, 3.19 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 54 strikeouts across 42.1 innings of work.<\/p>\n

He has been particularly sharp in June with a 2.31 ERA and 27 strikeouts across 23.1 innings pitched. Paxton was ramping up his pitch count prior to his last start where he left with right knee soreness.<\/p>\n

However, the Red Sox have said they aren’t concerned about the injury, and he was only pulled as a precaution. Prior to that start, Paxton had cleared this total in three straight games with 6+ innings pitched in each outing.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays big boppers are all right-handed hitters and Paxton has held righties to a .180 batting average across 129 plate appearances. Current Blue Jays hit only .234 against Paxton with only four home runs across 105 plate appearances.<\/p>\n

George Springer is responsible for three of those home runs but Paxton has held him to only 9 hits across 37 at-bats.<\/p>\n

If Paxton can navigate his way around Springer, it will be smooth sailing the rest of the way. We get a bargain on his over tonight in Toronto based on him leaving his last game early.<\/p>\n\n

Pitcher Prop Prediction 2: Austin Gomber Under 15.5 (-150)<\/span><\/h2>\n

Colorado Rockies starter Austin Gomber is in the midst of a brutal season with a 5-7 record, 7.01 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and only 53 strikeouts across 77 innings pitched. Things have been even worse at Coors Field where Gomber has an absurd 8.72 ERA and robust .337 opponent batting average.<\/p>\n

Lance Lynn and Yusei Kikuchi are the only pitchers in the league that have given up more bombs than Gomber’s 19 home runs allowed. Gomber hasn’t made it out of the 5th inning in any of his last three home outings and in 6 of his 9 home starts on the season.<\/p>\n

The Detroit Tigers don’t have the most imposing lineup but the prefer to hit against southpaws. as they actually rank 10th in OPS, 9th in wRC+ and 6th in ISO. They are also coming off a game where they scored 8 runs on 11 hits against the Texas Rangers yesterday.<\/p>\n

There are some weather concerns tonight in Colorado that could delay the start of the game. This could mess with Gomber’s routine and if the game starts and needs to be paused, Gomber would be pulled.<\/p>\n

Regardless Gomber has been a nightmare at Coor’s Field and I’m backing his under for pitching outs again tonight.<\/p>\n\n
