Both teams look to stay hot as the Jazz have won 11 of their last 13 games, while the Spurs have won three straight games.<\/p>\n These teams met recently on December 17th, with the Spurs pulling off a 128-126 road upset as a double digit underdog. That snapped a four game head-to-head winning streak for the Jazz.<\/p>\n The Utah Jazz stayed hot on Christmas night with a hard fought 120-116 victory over the short-handed Dallas Mavericks. Donovan Mitchell had a huge game with 33 points and 3 assists. However, Mitchell won’t be playing in this game due to a strained back.<\/p>\n With Mitchell sitting out Bogdanovic will take over as the leaving scorer with 17.4 points a game. The Utah Jazz boasts the leagues top scoring offense with an average of 116 points a game. They also play outstanding defense as they hold opponents to 105.7 points per game, while ranking 8th in defensive rating. It will be interesting to see how Utah performs going forward without Mitchell.<\/p>\n The San Antonio Spurs had a horrendous start to the season, but have looked great recently as they have won three straight. They will be playing the second game of a back-to-back after they torched the Detroit Pistons 144-109. They got this victory despite missing their best player in Dejounte Murray.<\/p>\n It’s currently unclear how long the Spurs will be without Murray and his 17.8 points, 8.4 assists and 8.8 rebounds a game. Without Murray the Spurs will rely heavily on Derrick White, Keldon Johnson and Jakob Poeltl. The Spurs have really started to click on offense, as they rank 5th with over 110 points per game. However their defense still needs a lot of work, they allow 109.8 points a game which ranks them 23rd in scoring defense.<\/p>\n So both teams will be without their superstar in this contest. The Jazz are 7-point road favorites with the total set at 230 points. The Spurs are 19-13 against the spread, while the Jazz are .500 at 16-16 ATS. Both play towards the over, however 230 seems like a ton of points with both Mitchell and Murray out.<\/p>\n I’m going to take a shot on the Spurs with the points here. The Jazz are winning games but haven’t been covering spreads. They have allowed the short-handed Hornets, Timberwolves and Mavericks to hang around for far too long. The Spurs are on a back-to-back, but didn’t have to expel much energy due to winning in blowout fashion.
