Tim Tszyu vs Carlos Ocampo Betting Analysis<\/h2>\n

Live on Showtime this weekend down in Australia, Tim Tszyu, the #1 ranked junior middleweight contender in the world, takes on tough Mexican fighter Carlos Ocampo in what\u2019s sure to be an entertaining matchup in Broadbeach on Sunday (Saturday night U.S. time).<\/p>\n

Tim Tszyu comes off an electrifying performance against former champion Tony Harrison last time out, stopping the veteran fighter with some brutal shots in the 9th round of their bout back in March.<\/p>\n

That performance puts him firmly in line for Jermell Charlo\u2019s undisputed status and titles later this year providing he comes through unscathed against Ocampo this weekend.<\/p>\n

Carlos Ocampo meanwhile came off a lopsided decision loss against Sebastian Fundora last October, a fight he had more success in than the judges’ scorecards gave him credit for, with Ocampo landing multiple flush shots on Fundora early in that fight.<\/p>\n

With only two losses across his 36 fight record to date, the only other one coming against welterweight king Errol Spence Jr. back in 2018, Ocampo will be eager to prove he\u2019s no stepping stone for Tszyu this weekend as he looks to put on a solid performance ‘Down Under’.<\/p>\n

Less Than Ideal Preparation For Tszyu<\/h3>\n

Tim Tszyu hasn\u2019t exactly had the best preparation in the run-up to Sunday\u2019s fight, suffering a huge dog bite on the inside elbow bend of his right forearm just three weeks ago at a friend’s barbeque.<\/p>\n

That wound saw Tszyu getting rushed to the hospital where he got both a tetanus shot and 26 stitches in his arm as he admitted in a recent interview that he\u2019s had to take it a lot easier in sparring of late due to the injury.<\/p>\n

That said, Tszyu is adamant that the injury won’t be a factor in this fight as the post-surgical report stated the wound was superficial with no long-term damage done, so Tszyu\u2019s team are confident that he will be 100% come Sunday.<\/p>\n

Can Ocampo Weather The Storm?<\/h3>\n

While Carlos Ocampo has shown himself to be incredibly durable over his career so far, getting stopped just once across his 36-fight pro career, that stoppage did come in pretty brutal fashion against Errol Spence Jr. five years ago down in Texas.<\/p>\n

Near the end of the opening round, Ocampo was pushed back against the ropes by Spence and was timed with a pinpoint left hook to the body which Ocampo absolutely withered from, unable to not only beat the 10-count, but also minutes after the bout as well as he struggled to recover.<\/p>\n

That should be a major concern for Ocampo ahead of this fight as well as just like Errol Spence, Tim Tszyu owns a hellacious left hook to the body also, one he showed to terrific effect against a really durable Steve Spark two years ago by stopping him inside of three rounds with the exact same shot.<\/p>\n

Tim Tszyu vs Carlos Ocampo Expert Prediction<\/h2>\n

This is a tough fight to predict as it really all boils down to how serious the dog bite injury may or may not be for Tim Tszyu ahead of this one.<\/p>\n

The usual tropes of \u2018He\u2019s never looked better\u2019 or \u2018He\u2019s back to 100%\u2019 have been rolled out before prior to fights (Sergio Martinez anyone?), only for it then to be discovered that the injury impacted the fighter far more than was initially revealed.<\/p>\n

If Tim Tszyu is at 100% this weekend then it\u2019s very likely he stops Ocampo in this one. While Ocampo is tough, showing his grittiness in his recent war against Sebastian Fundora back in October, Tim Tszyu employs a lot of the same inside fundamentals that Errol Spence Jr. does.<\/p>\n

Specifically, framing and pinning opponents against the ropes where he can unleash that ferocious body attack of his. If that\u2019s the case, a Tim Tszyu stoppage in rounds 4-6 looks decent value going off at +400 right now.<\/p>\n

However, if the bite is a little more severe than initially anticipated, this fight could go rounds, and with 26 stitches and Tszyu already admitting that he\u2019s had to pull his punches in sparring due to the injury, especially with the ultimate goal of that end of year clash against undisputed 154lb champion Jermell Charlo, than it\u2019s likely Tszyu won\u2019t force the issue with his hand here on Sunday and we could well see this one go the distance as a result.<\/p>\n

While Tszyu definitely has the ability to blow Ocampo out in this one, we\u2019ll lean with the fact that he likely won\u2019t be at 100% here, and take the generous +360 odds on offer over at Fanduel right now for Tim Tszyu to win this one by decision on Sunday.<\/p>\n
