This will be the first series between these division rivals during the 2023 campaign. The Blue Jays won the 2022 regular season series 10-9, they went 5-5 at Rogers Centre and 5-4 in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

Toronto is wrapping up a 10 game homestand that they are currently 4-3 on. The Orioles are kicking off a six-game road trip that they will wrap up with a three-game series against the New York Yankees at the beginning of next week.<\/p>\n

There is a major injury concern heading into this series as Guerrero Jr. who has missed the last two games heading into this series. One thing that stands out is the young slugger Ryan Mountcastle having a great track record against all three opposing starters<\/strong>. His best matchup is against Game 1, going 4-9 with three home runs against Yusei Kikuchi.<\/p>\n

Looking at Mountcastle’s splits, he fares far better against left-handed pitching with .333 average compared to .215 against righties. He also has five home runs against southpaws in only 57 at-bats compared to four home runs in 121 at-bats against righties. Take his over on total bases in Game 1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The rookie hurler Grayson Rodriguez has hit rough patch, allowing 16 earned runs across only 12.2 innings including seven home runs in his last three starts alone.<\/p>\n

The Jays are right inside the top 10 in most offensive categories against right-handed pitching. Rodriguez has only exceeded five innings pitched once this season and he pitches in Game 2, giving Vladdy an extra game to return to the lineup.
