German Bundesliga Power Rankings Top 5<\/h2>\n

As we head towards the home stretch of the German Bundesliga regular season, WagerTalk German Bundesliga handicapper Kevin Dolan<\/a> presents his German Bundesliga Power Rankings for Week 29 of action. Which teams are slotted at the top and which are headed towards relegation? Read his power rankings now!<\/p>\n

\"German<\/p>\n

1. Bayern Munich<\/h3>\n

League Position – 1st,\u00a0L\/5 Form – Joint\u00a02nd\u00a0[2.00\u00a0PPG], L\/5 xPTS –\u00a02nd\u00a0[9.66\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a huge Champions League clash on deck against Manchester City on Wednesday, it\u2019s understandable Bayern may have been distracted against Hoffenheim last weekend. Bayern were good value for the win in that game as well, putting up 1.89 xG compared with Hoffenheim\u2019s 0.27 xG.<\/p>\n

2. Bayer Leverkusen<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form – 1st [2.40 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 5th [8.60 xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [11.0], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

There hasn\u2019t been a hotter team in the Bundesliga over the last few weeks than Bayer Leverkusen, with Die Werkself winning five of their last six games overall, including an impressive 2-1 home win over league leaders Bayern Munich, along with ranking 1st in both form and expected data across their last five games as well.<\/p>\n

3. Borussia Dortmund<\/h3>\n

League Position – 2nd,\u00a0L\/5 Form – Joint\u00a05th\u00a0[1.60\u00a0PPG], L\/5 xPTS –\u00a06th\u00a0[8.26\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

We dropped Borussia Dortmund down a notch this week as they\u2019ve been struggling in the league across recent games, drawing against two relegation teams in Schalke and Stuttgart.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a shame for the Der BVB faithful as with any type of consistency they have the ability to leapfrog Bayern\u2019s position at the top of the table given all their issues this season.<\/p>\n

4. RB Leipzig<\/h3>\n

League Position – 4th,\u00a0L\/5 Form –\u00a04th\u00a0[1.80\u00a0PPG], L\/5 xPTS –\u00a05th\u00a0[8.39\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Certainly not in the same form they were in earlier in the season, RB Leipzig largely make this list because every other team around them is struggling also, such as Union Berlin and Freiburg.<\/p>\n

Recent close back-to-back victories against Hertha Berlin and Augsburg respectively haven\u2019t done much to restore confidence either, and it\u2019ll be interesting to see whether or not RB Leipzig can maintain their top four position down the stretch.<\/p>\n

5. Hoffenheim<\/h3>\n

League Position – 13th, L\/5 Form – Tied 2nd [2.00 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 3rd [9.65 xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Putting a 13th placed side in\u00a0your top five\u00a0power ranked teams\u00a0of the week isn\u2019t usually the done thing but there\u2019s no denying Hoffenheim\u2019s recent run of form, breaking away from the relegation group\u00a0with three straight wins before coming away with a point\u00a0in Munich on the weekend also.<\/p>\n

German Bundesliga Power Rankings Bottom 5<\/h2>\n

14. FC Koln<\/h3>\n

League Position – 11th,\u00a0L\/5 Form –\u00a0Tied\u00a012th [1.00\u00a0PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 13th [6.24\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

FC Koln have been the 4th worst performing team in the Bundesliga since February 1st, amassing just two total wins along with the generating the fewest number of goals scored also at just 8.<\/p>\n

A recent 3-1 road win against 14th placed Augsburg has somewhat stemmed the tide for Koln, but they\u2019ve nonetheless looked far from impressive for months now.<\/p>\n

15. Schalke 04<\/h3>\n

League Position – 17th,\u00a0L\/5 Form – Tied 12th [1.00\u00a0PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 10th [6.74\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Schalke secured a huge three points last Friday against Hertha Berlin to finally drag themselves off the foot of the table, a result which when combined with their recent 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund, will no doubt give them a ton of confidence moving forward across their remaining games.<\/p>\n

16. Augsburg<\/h3>\n

League Position – 14th,\u00a0L\/5 Form –\u00a0Tied\u00a016th [0.40 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 17th [3.44\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

No team has been in worse recent form than Augsburg who\u00a0find themselves on a current five game winless run with no clean sheets banked across those games either.\u00a0However, with a run that includes Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig,\u00a0that\u2019s somewhat understandable.<\/p>\n

17. Werder Bremen<\/h3>\n

League Position – 12th,\u00a0L\/5 Form –\u00a0Tied\u00a016th [0.40 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 15th [5.45\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Werder Bremen are currently on a six game winless run, including three straight defeats at\u00a0at home in the Weserstadion also.<\/p>\n

A huge turnaround is needed by Ole Werner\u2019s men if they\u2019re\u00a0going to\u00a0avoid getting dragged into the relegation battle\u00a0taking place immediately below them.<\/p>\n

18. Hertha Berlin<\/h3>\n

League Position – 18th,\u00a0L\/5 Form –\u00a0Tied 16th\u00a0[0.40 PPG], L\/5 xPTS –\u00a014th [5.67\u00a0xPTS], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

While their\u00a0recent\u00a0data actually hasn\u2019t been all that bad, Hertha Berlin nonetheless came up short\u00a0yet\u00a0again on Friday night in a must win game against\u00a0fellow relegation strugglers Schalke.<\/p>\n

That loss marked Hertha Berlin\u2019s sixth straight game without a win as\u00a0they desperately try and get themselves off the foot of\u00a0the table over\u00a0the remaining weeks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
