French Ligue 1 Power Rankings Top 5<\/h2>\n

As we head towards the home stretch of the French Ligue 1 regular season, WagerTalk French Ligue 1 handicapper Kevin Dolan<\/a> presents his French Ligue 1 Power Rankings for Week 32 of action. Which teams are slotted at the top and which are headed towards relegation? Read his power rankings now!<\/p>\n

1. Paris Saint-Germain<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form – Joint 6th [1.80 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 10th [7.16 xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [8.2], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

While form and data figures suggest PSG have been a long way from the best team in the league across recent games, that win against Lens last time out proved their championship credentials and showed why they\u2019re still the class of the French league overall.<\/p>\n

2. Lens<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form – 1st [2.40 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 5th [8.60 xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [11.0], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

If it wasn\u2019t for PSG\u2019s victory over Lens last weekend, \u2018The Blood and Gold\u2019 would arguably be top of this list as they\u2019ve been superb across recent games.<\/p>\n

Even with that loss, Lens had the greater offensive xG in that game over PSG but were simply undone by the brilliance of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.<\/p>\n

3. Lille<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form – Joint 3rd [2.00 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 1st [10.46 xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [12.4], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not facing the toughest schedule has arguably kept Lille out of an even higher spot on this list, but this is a team playing extremely well right now with by far the highest xPTS out of any team in the league across their last five starts.<\/p>\n

However, a shock loss against bottom of the table Angers two weeks ago took some of the shine off in a game they dominated.<\/p>\n

4. Monaco<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form – Joint 3rd [2.00 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 4th [8.88 xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [13.8], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three wins from their last four show Monaco are still hunting for that automatic Champions League spot. However, they\u2019ll need to clean up a home record that has seen them drop two of their last four games at the Stade Louis II to midtable Nice and Reims respectively.<\/p>\n

5. Marseille<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form – Tied 6th [1.80 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 8th [8.28 xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [13.2], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just two wins from their last five games has seen 2nd placed Marseille\u2019s gap at the top shrink, as other teams look to supercede them for the automatic Champions League spot. Their home form has been especially poor of late with just one win from their last six games overall.<\/p>\n

French Ligue 1 Power Rankings Bottom 5<\/h2>\n

16. Nice<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form –\u00a0Joint 17th [0.60\u00a0PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 14th [6.71\u00a0xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [12.4], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite sitting 9th in the table overall, we have to include Nice in the bottom bracket of these rankings as they\u2019ve fell off a cliff performance wise across recent weeks. A current six game winless run has been accompanied by a 0% clean sheet percentage across their last five games as well. Losing to 16th placed Brest last weekend proves just how much this team is struggling right now.<\/p>\n

17. Nantes<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form – Tied 17th [0.60 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 17th [4.55 xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [8.4], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a huge relegation battle on Sunday against 14th placed Auxerre, Nantes came up short, losing 2-1 on the road to the club from Burgundy.<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t leave much room for error over the remaining few weeks for Nantes as they sit just two points clear of the relegation zone.<\/p>\n

18. Angers<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form –\u00a016th [0.80\u00a0PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 18th [4.04\u00a0xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [8.0], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cadiz secured an excellent win against 5th placed Betis last week,\u00a0but bar that highlight, the Andalusian club have been quite poor\u00a0across recent games,\u00a0sitting with the 3rd lowest xPTS across their last five starts,\u00a0and\u00a0arguably\u00a0should have lost to\u00a017th placed Almeria last month also.<\/p>\n

19. Troyes<\/h3>\n

L\/5 Form –\u00a019th\u00a0[0.20 PPG], L\/5 xPTS – 19th [3.21\u00a0xPTS], L\/5 Strength of Schedule – Avg. Opponent Position [10.6], Last Week\u2019s Rank – [N\/A]<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 15 game winless run for Troyes has left them completely stranded in the relegation zone as they\u2019ve failed to win a game across any competition since the start of January.<\/p>\n

20. AC Ajaccio<\/h3>\n
