Columbus Crew vs Atlanta United Betting Analysis<\/h2>\n

Atlanta has come flying out of the gates this season with three wins and a draw and sit atop the Eastern Conference. They have scored 11 goals led by Thiago Almada who has scored four goals and assisted on another four already.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s obviously early in the season, the Three Stripes rank 2nd in the league averaging 16.5 shots per 90 minutes, along with 6.0 on target which ranks 3rd. Their 1.75 xG per match also ranks 3rd in the league.<\/p>\n

Atlanta United Without Key Players<\/h3>\n

So, it only makes sense to look to back Atlanta or perhaps look to back goals in this match, right? Not so fast. We are in the middle of the international break.<\/p>\n

However, the MLS is playing on as they already have a month break planned this summer for the inaugural Leagues Cup.<\/p>\n

Atlanta will be without Almada and his eight goals that he has contributed to already this season, along with newcomers Giakoumakis and Etienne who have just started to find their roles on this team.<\/p>\n

Starting defender Miles Robinson will also be missing as he travels with team USA. That leaves a lot of holes on the field for Atlanta with some big shoes to fill.<\/p>\n

Columbus Can’t Get Back to Winning Ways<\/h3>\n

On the other side, Columbus is also missing three key players. Keeper Eloy Room, although I usually don\u2019t put too much stock into the keeper, along with Degenek and Zelarayan who are two key pieces in the midfield and defense for the Crew.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t make an argument that either team benefits more than the other with the missing players this week as we are removing some continuity on both sides of the ball, leaving the \u201cnext man up\u201d mentality.<\/p>\n

However, that generally leads to less chances created as you have more players on the field that haven\u2019t gotten their minutes played with one another and their on-the-field chemistry lacks.<\/p>\n

The trends for both teams this season point to the over, as does the recent H2H series with each of the last three and six of the last eight finishing over the total.<\/p>\n
