Check the TV ratings when this one is over because there will likely be some above-average viewership outside of College Station, Texas and State College, Pennsylvania, namely in the South Bend and Washington DC markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Shrewsberry has reportedly drawn interest from Notre Dame, Georgetown and a handful of other marquee programs looking to fill their sideline vacancies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shrewsberry took over a program in limbo after the dismissal of Pat Chambers, who is now leading Florida Gulf Coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Purdue assistant did a masterful job in the transfer portal, luring player of the year candidate Jalen Pickett to Happy Valley after his career at Siena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penn State Underdogs?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As most college basketball bettors have come to learn in recent years, oddsmakers generally follow KenPom’s numbers pretty closely and don’t stray too far off his path unless there are injuries or other factors that facilitate the need to. This is a pretty notable exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KenPom has the Nittany Lions favored by two (they’re +3 ‘dogs at the time of posting), but the even bigger difference comes in the total where his system projects 140 points compared to the 134.5 that oddsmakers have hung. We’re inclined to go with KenPom on this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texas A&M vs Penn State Expert Prediction<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Penn State’s games have averaged over 64 possessions this season, and they exceeded that mark in all four Big Ten Tournament games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texas A&M’s last seven games have either matched or exceeded that 64-possession mark. Neither team is known for up-and-down track meets, but this isn’t Virginia or North Texas we’re dealing with here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penn State was top-20 in the country in offensive efficiency, effective field goal percentage, turnover rate and three-point shooting. Both teams shoot well from the free throw line, notably Texas A&M who led the SEC at nearly 78-percent in conference play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has the potential to set up very similarly to how Penn State’s Big Ten Championship Game ended with Purdue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nittany Lions and Boilermakers didn’t crack 100 points until there were seven minutes remaining, but ended the game with a flurry of 35 points. Both teams will scratch and claw until the end, and this total of 134.5 is few ticks too low. Play the over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
