Arizona Wildcats Recent Games Played<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arizona probably wasn’t thrilled when this matchup got released on Selection Sunday. After a pretty exhausting run at the end of the regular season and Pac-12 Tournament, the Wildcats could have used a little bit of a breather in the opening round here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They’re unlikely to get it. Each of the last two times that Arizona won the Pac-12 Tournament, they failed to cover the spread in their NCAA first round game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After starting 22-3, Arizona looked poised to earn a No. 1 seed and possibly the No. 1 overall seed at the beginning of February before the grind of the Pac-12 schedule caught up to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wildcats captured the Pac-12 crown in Las Vegas last week, but it certainly wasn’t easy. Junior guard Kerr Kriisa is battling through a shoulder injury. He only contributed 12 total points in three games last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Princeton Poised For Upset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you take a peek at our Charleston vs San Diego State preview<\/a> from earlier today, we made note of how the CAA took a notable decline from last year to this year. The opposite is true for the Ivy League, which was very strong this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Princeton emerged with the league crown after beating Penn and Yale, but all four of the Ivy League playoff reps would have been worthy of an NCAA Tournament spot this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ivy League was ranked 18th out of 32 conferences in KenPom’s metrics last season. They jumped to 13th this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s take a look at the first half over 73 points. Arizona thrives in the open court, sitting top-15 in the country in both adjusted tempo and average possession length. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head coach Tommy Lloyd is going to put a pretty strong emphasis on squashing this one early. He knows Princeton is a dangerous opponent, and the longer the Tigers can stick around, the longer he has to keep his starters engaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona vs Princeton Expert Prediction<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Princeton played a pretty weak schedule this year outside the Ivy, so the best comparison to Arizona is probably Hofstra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pride play fast and are efficient on offense, both at the three-point line and in the interior. They combined to score 160 points in that game, including 80 in the first half. If Hofstra can do that, so can Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona went from scoring 95 points in the Pac-12 opener against Stanford to 78 in the second round against Arizona State to 61 in the final against UCLA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pretty steep drop, right? When your two best players are 6-11 and 7-0, you don’t want them playing 30+ minutes against a 15-seed in a tournament setting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look for the Wildcats to put a strong emphasis on the first half before taking the air out of the ball and slowing things down in the second half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
