San Diego State vs Charleston Prediction : Game Betting Analysis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just about everyone enjoys going to Disney World, but you can’t help but chuckle at some of the matchups in Orlando on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The already-dangerous Paladins from Furman get a nice, easy trip from South Carolina in their matchup with Virginia, and now Charleston gets to enjoy a smooth trip as the 12-seed, while San Diego State has to travel across the country as the 5-seed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Furman is able to pull the mild upset over Virginia, you have to imagine that a decent number of those clad in purple will stick around the Amway Center to support their in-state partners against the Aztecs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charleston’s Rolls With Light Schedule – So Are They Good or Not?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So while the logistics certainly favor the Cougars, the matchup doesn’t look quite as friendly. Charleston enjoyed a fantastic season under second-year head coach Pat Kelsey, but it’s fair to ask about the Cougars’ level of competition up to this point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through no fault of their own, non-conference games that looked tough on paper at the beginning of the year (North Carolina, Richmond, Davidson, Colorado State and Virginia Tech) lost some value over the course of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charleston only had to play Hofstra once during the CAA regular season and managed to avoid the Pride in the conference tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to KenPom’s metrics, the CAA was 14th out of 32 conferences last year just behind the SoCon and Conference USA. This year the CAA was 26th behind leagues like the MAAC and America East. That’s a notable drop-off from one year to the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Kelsey’s full-steam-ahead approach on offense was dominant in the CAA, but the Cougars will be facing a much different animal on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Courtesy of Jon Fendler: Charleston ran transition offense at the fifth-highest rate in the country this season while SDSU leads the country in transition rate allowed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team that gave the Aztecs the most problems this year was New Mexico, who used two veteran guards to run the pick-and-roll. Charleston is No. 324 in pick-and-roll usage. The Aztecs’ defense is built upon shutting down what Charleston does best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look no further than San Diego State’s win in the Mountain West title game over Utah State. The Aggies are top-15 in the country in offensive efficiency, effective field goal shooting and three-point shooting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
