Carolina Hurricanes vs St. Louis Blues Betting Analysis<\/h2>\n

Ten wins from their last eleven games has seen the Carolina Hurricanes continue to stay ahead of the chasing New Jersey Devils in the Metropolitan Division this year, with the Hurricanes boasting the division\u2019s best home record as well.<\/p>\n

The St. Louis Blues meanwhile are well off the pace over in the Central Division and after what looked like a mini-renaissance for the team after the All-Star Break which saw them win three games on the bounce, they\u2019ve since come off the boil losing twice in two heavy defeats against the Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators respectively in recent games.<\/p>\n

This will be the second and final meeting between the two teams this season after Carolina won game one in St. Louis 6-4 back at the start of December.<\/p>\n

St. Louis \u2018Blue\u2019 After O\u2019Reilly Trade<\/h3>\n

Losing their former Stanley Cup winning captain Ryan O\u2019Reilly last week in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs was never going to be easy for the Blues, and with Noel Acciari and Vladimir Tarasenko also gone from the roster in recent weeks, the St. Louis Blues have entered full rebuild mode.<\/p>\n

However, the O\u2019Reilly trade has arguably made an even bigger impact on the team than simply raw talent as his former teammates have stated the immense impact he had in the dressing room also.<\/p>\n

Hurricanes Whirlwind Defense<\/h3>\n

While on paper the Carolina Hurricanes rank 5th overall in scoring defense this season, allowing 2.64 goals per game on average, their underlying stats have been far better, ranking pretty much #1 across the board.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes rank #1 in total shots allowed this year, #1 in defensive xGA (by a huge margin), and #1 in high-danger opponent shots allowed as well (again, by a huge margin) as they continue to play lights-out defense this season.<\/p>\n

Carolina Hurricanes vs St. Louis Blues Expert Prediction<\/h2>\n

Carolina are the hottest team in the NHL right now and it\u2019s difficult to envision anything other than a comprehensive Hurricanes victory in this one given how both teams are playing right now.<\/p>\n

Arguably the league\u2019s best defense this season faces a St. Louis Blues offense in this one that ranks 19th in offensive xG, 23rd in scoring chances accumulated, and 30th in high-danger creation rate also, so it\u2019s unlikely they can trouble this under-rated Hurricanes defense enough on Tuesday in order to come out with the win.<\/p>\n

That said, the moneyline is simply too prohibitive in this one to get involved on the side, so instead we\u2019re going to pivot towards the St. Louis Team Total Goals – Under 2.5 at -165 as our main play in this game.<\/p>\n
