Los Angeles Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans Betting Preview<\/h2>\n

WagerTalk handicapper and renowned Daily Fantasy expert Ben Burns<\/a> provides his predictions and a player prop from tonight\u2019s showdown between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Lakers.<\/p>\n

This marks the last game, for each of these teams, before the All Star Break. It’s a rematch of a February 4th clash, at New Orleans. Entering this month’s earlier meeting, the Pelicans had lost 10 straight. The Lakers were off back-to-back wins and were rumored to be the frontrunner in the Kyrie Irving “sweepstakes.”<\/p>\n

Eleven days can change a lot. Behind a 35-point performance from Brandon Ingram, the Pelicans erased a double-digit halftime deficit and rallied to win that February 4th game. They’ve now won four of five. The Lakers didn’t get Irving and they’ve now lost four of five.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Los Angeles Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans Betting Analysis<\/h2>\n

If the season ended today, the Lakers (26-32) would not make the playoffs. They sit in 13th spot in the West. Only the Spurs and Rockets are behind them.<\/p>\n

There’s still reason for hope though. This team is still loaded. Though they didn’t land Irving, the Lakers did acquire D’Angelo Russell. When healthy they’re still a force. They’re still within striking distance.<\/p>\n

While we would have said otherwise 11 days ago, the Pelicans (30-28) seemingly have more reason for optimism. Averaging more than 25 points in eight games since returning from injury, Ingram has been a huge difference maker.<\/p>\n

Neither team has been particularly good at the betting window. The Pelicans are 27-30-1 ATS. The Lakers are 25-29-4 ATS. Both have been profitable ‘over’ teams. New Orleans has seen the ‘over’ go 32-26. Similarly, LA has seen the ‘over’ go 32-25-1.<\/p>\n

Another Shootout?<\/h3>\n

With an O\/U line in the 230s, this game is expected to be relatively high-scoring. That was certainly the case in this month’s earlier meeting. That game finished with a final score of 131-126. They had 131 points by halftime.<\/p>\n

This season’s first meeting, which was here back in October, also finished above the number. That one produced 237 points. The Lakers check in off a 242-point game at Portland.<\/p>\n

Before pulling the trigger on the ‘over,’ consider that the Pelicans are off a strong defensive effort. They limited OKC to only 103 points last time out. Since last seeing the Lakers, they’ve limited three of four opponents to 107 or fewer points.<\/p>\n

Will LeBron Play?<\/h3>\n

Since breaking the scoring record, Lebron James has sat out. As is regularly the case, he’s currently questionable. There are signs that he’s leaning towards returning.<\/p>\n

Anthony Davis is also questionable. He’s more like “probable” though. Davis is coming off a 19-point and 20-rebound effort.<\/p>\n

While Zion Williamson remains out for the Pelicans, CJ McCollum is currently questionable. He had 23 points in the Feb 4th game. So, New Orleans is hopeful that he’s good to go.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans Player Prop<\/span> Prediction<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ingram should have another big game. That’s reflected in his price tag though. I feel that one player offering value in today’s proposition market is Jonas Valanciunas.<\/p>\n

The Pelicans’ center quietly goes about his business. In the Feb. 4th game, Valanciunas had 18 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. He may not get 37 total again but he doesn’t need to. I see him getting more than 25 total points, rebounds and assists.<\/p>\n
