League leaders Barcelona travel to north-eastern Spain on Saturday to take on mid-table Girona as they look to extend their three-point lead at the top of the table over chasing Real Madrid in Spanish LaLiga.<\/p>\n

Girona comes off a disappointing 1-0 road loss against Villarreal on Sunday where they had an unbelievably late penalty go against them in the 101st minute of play (11 minutes deep into injury time), and are on a current run that has seen them win just one of their last four games in the league overall.<\/p>\n

Barcelona have shutout Girona in both of their previous LaLiga meetings in this venue by 3-0 and 2-0 scorelines respectively.<\/p>\n

Barcelona Stat Dominance<\/h3>\n

Barcelona\u2019s stats have been absolutely electric this year, and it\u2019s actually surprising that they only find themselves three points ahead in the title race this season.<\/p>\n

Barcelona have allowed an insane 6 goals to opponents all year, with no other team in any of Europe\u2019s top five leagues even ranking in single digits this season, as Barcelona continue to rank as one of the best defenses in world football right now.<\/p>\n

Girona Need To Work On Defense<\/h3>\n

In step with Sunday\u2019s penalty loss against Villarreal, a game in which Girona gave up two penalties overall to the hosts, Girona\u2019s propensity for giving up soft set pieces in dangerous areas has cost them a ton of points this season.<\/p>\n

Only three teams in the league have given up more penalties and set-piece goals combined to opponents this year than Girona have, and that\u2019s an area Michel\u2019s squad will need to work on if they\u2019re going to avoid getting sucked into a relegation dogfight by the end of the season.<\/p>\n
