Calgary Flames vs New York Islanders Betting Analysis<\/h2>\n

The New York Islanders finish their four-game road trip on Friday with a trip to Calgary after putting together some impressive victories over their last few starts, including blowing out the Panthers, Penguins, and Canucks by four goals each respectively.<\/p>\n

They face a Calgary Flames team that has put in some Jekyll and Hyde performances over the last month, failing to put any kind of momentum together, and who have lost three of their last four at home also.<\/p>\n

These two teams have faced each other once already this season with the Islanders taking the win at home via a 4-3 OT win in Elmont. That was the Islanders sole win from their last five meetings against the Flames however.<\/p>\n

Islanders Masking Serious Issues On Defense<\/h3>\n

When you\u2019ve got a player like Ilya Sorokin in your lineup, it\u2019s not hard to mask defensive issues being how solid he\u2019s been in nets this season.<\/p>\n

That said, and despite the Islanders already impressive 2.67 GAPG this season on defense, the 6th-best mark in the league, New York are masking some really serious issues on stats-based defense this year, namely their 31st league ranking on opponent high-danger shots allowed this season.<\/p>\n

Calgary Failing To Capitalize Up Front<\/h3>\n

A lot of Calgary\u2019s recent issues in games have come on the offensive end, with the Flames failing to score more than 3 goals in a game since December 20th.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s largely due to the Flames having one of the lowest shot conversion percentages in the league this season at just 8.68%, with only the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks posting lower overall percentages this year.<\/p>\n

Calgary Flames vs New York Islanders Prediction<\/h2>\n

The price is steep in this one, but Calgary are deserved favorites in our eyes and should get the win at home against the New York Islanders on Friday.<\/p>\n

While the Flames overall shot connect percentage is low this season, their connect percentage inside the slot area has been really impressive, hitting 11.9% on average for the 5th highest mark in the league.<\/p>\n

With that being the Islanders kryptonite this season in terms of how many high-danger scoring opportunities they’ve given up to opposing defenses this year, we expect the Flames to capitalize on that and get the win in regulation at -120 on Friday.<\/p>\n
