Arizona Coyotes vs New York Islanders Betting Analysis<\/h3>\n

Arizona\u2019s mini two-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt on Tuesday night as they lost 3-2 on the road against the San Jose Sharks.<\/p>\n

The Coyotes were outgunned from start in that one going down 2-0 early in the first period and enjoyed 33% fewer shots on goal than the Sharks in that one also.<\/p>\n

The Islanders meanwhile have won just two of their last seven games overall as they\u2019ve had a thoroughly miserable December, but did at least play tough against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night, rallying back from two separate deficits before losing late in a shootout.<\/p>\n

These two teams have played once already this year, with Arizona coming out on top via a 2-0 road win over in New York.<\/p>\n

Islanders Need To Sharpen Up On Defense<\/h3>\n

While on the surface the New York Islanders have allowed a respectable 2.77 GAPG to opponents on the season so far, a mark that puts them 9th in the league on overall scoring defense this year, data-wise, that same defense has been anything but solid to start the season.<\/p>\n

The Islanders rank 30th in the league this season on defensive xGA but have managed to bridge that gap from statistical to actual scoring by having an opponent shot conversion percentage of just 8.70%, the 7th-best mark in the entire league, and something they can no doubt thank top 3 goalie Ilya Sorokin for, as well as top 25 performer Semyon Varlamov also.<\/p>\n

Offense Continues To Be A Major Factor For Arizona This Season<\/h3>\n

While their defense has been somewhat respectable to start the year, Arizona\u2019s offense has been anything but, averaging the lowest shots on goal numbers in the league this season along with ranking bottom five in overall scoring offense as well.<\/p>\n

While that sounds poor in and of itself, it honestly could be a whole lot worse for the Coyotes as they rank last in the league on offensive xG by an absolutely huge margin this season with no other team coming close, but like the Islanders in reverse format, have benefitted from the league\u2019s 3rd highest shot conversion percentage this season to offset that.<\/p>\n

This is something liable not to last and for the Coyotes to really struggle even more on approaching the back half of the season.<\/p>\n

Arizona Coyotes vs New York Islanders Prediction<\/h2>\n

The bookmakers have done a fine job of pricing this game as our model has this within a 3% difference from the posted odds right now in terms of choosing a side.<\/p>\n

With that said, we still have to go with the Islanders in this one as despite all their issues on defense this season, they should have more than enough here on Friday to deal with a very low threat potential from this fairly toothless Arizona Coyotes attack.<\/p>\n

The Islanders have won 14 of their 17 games inside regulation this season and we expect them to add to that tally here. Take the New York Islanders to win inside regulation on Friday at -115 as they take on the Arizona Coyotes on the road.<\/p>\n
