Conlan is still on the comeback trail after getting stopped by Leigh Wood earlier this year in what was a potential Fight of the Year barnburner. The Belfast crowd will no doubt be in full voice for their favorite son ahead of this one, but with Conlan sitting as a -2500 favorite, where exactly does the betting value lie?<\/p>\n

Conlan Looks To Dust Off Cobwebs Ahead Of A Big 2023<\/h3>\n

After a big build-up over the early part of his career which saw UFC star Conor McGregor lead him out in his debut at Madison Square Garden, it’s fair to say Michael Conlan\u2019s career progression hasn\u2019t exactly gone to plan as he returns home once again after his crushing world title loss against Leigh Wood in March.<\/p>\n

Conlan floored Wood early in that contest and was up for the majority of the fight, but a combination of exhaustion and Leigh\u2019s relentless attack was finally enough to overcome the Irishman as he was knocked out cold midway through the 12th round.<\/p>\n

Late 2022 has seen a rebuilding phase for Conlan, looking excellent against a seasoned Miguel Marriaga back in August and he will look to stay that way as he looks ahead to a potentially huge 2023.<\/p>\n

Guerfi Has His Own Fight of the Year Nominee<\/h3>\n

While Conlan and Wood stood out as one of the best fights over the last 12 months in boxing, Karim Guerfi had his own Fight of the Year candidate late last year with a nine-round brawl against Britain\u2019s Jordan Gill. Guerfi hurt and dropped Gill in that fight before the Englishman roared back with a brutal knockout in round nine.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s been an issue for Guerfi across his career as a whole with four of his six losses coming via stoppage against opponents.<\/p>\n

Michael Conlan vs Karim Guerfi Prediction<\/h2>\n

Karim Guerfi is a seasoned campaigner no question, but in front of a raucous Belfast home crowd and a fighter in Conlan who is the sharpest boxer he\u2019s ever been in with, you’d have to favor Conlan to get the stoppage this weekend.<\/p>\n

Scotland\u2019s Lee McGregor absolutely starched Karim Guerfi inside a round with multiple knockdowns early last year, and while Conlan doesn\u2019t quite carry McGregor\u2019s power in fights, he\u2019s the much more clinical boxer of the two and showed against both Wood and Marriaga that he carries enough pop to hurt opponents.<\/p>\n

We’re taking the Michael Conlan to win by KO\/TKO<\/strong> prop at -165 on Saturday to get to the window as the Irishman closes out the year in style with a stoppage win to set up a big 2023.<\/p>\n
