Josh Warrington vs Luis Alberto Lopez\u00a0Analysis<\/h3>\n

The Leeds Warrior returns this Saturday in his home city to take on tough Mexican fighter Luis Alberto Lopez in First Direct Arena.<\/p>\n

Warrington regained his IBF featherweight world title back in March of this year with a seventh-round stoppage against incredibly tough Spaniard Kiko Martinez, and will look to put back-to-back victories together this weekend for the first time since 2019.<\/p>\n

This will be Luis Alberto Lopez\u2019s second fight over in the UK after brutally stopping Tyson Fury\u2019s stablemate, Isaac Lowe, last December.<\/p>\n

Lopez Looking To Make It Two-From-Two In England<\/h3>\n

The previously-undefeated Isaac Lowe went into last year\u2019s contest against Luis Alberto Lopez as the prohibitive -400 favorite. With Warrington only coming in as the -140 favorite ahead of this one, that performance last year certainly shows the bookmakers are respecting Lopez a lot more this time around in what will be his second visit to the UK.<\/p>\n

Lopez put Lowe down three times in that fight, eventually finishing him with a brutal body shot in the seventh round. With his efficient heavy-handed style, he could make it a very tough night\u2019s work for Josh Warrington in this one also.<\/p>\n

Mexican Nightmare For Warrington<\/h3>\n

Josh Warrington will no doubt be all too aware of the last time he faced an unheralded Mexican fighter, as he got absolutely destroyed against Mauricio Lara back in February of last year.<\/p>\n

Warrington suffered multiple injuries in that fight, but in the Englishman’s defense, he came right back and ordered an immediate rematch against his conqueror, which ended prematurely with a disappointing clash of heads in the second round just as things looked to be getting warmed up.<\/p>\n

Josh Warrington fights in a particular offensively minded pattern, but against Luis Alberto Lopez this weekend, I highly doubt he\u2019ll opt to go full guns blazing in this one and risk getting stopped for the second time in his career.<\/p>\n

The advantages he does possess over Lopez in this fight are pronounced, however, and his speed advantage is huge as Lopez is often guilty of squaring up and planting his feet, looking to deliver those big power shots. That is something Warrington can take advantage of this weekend.<\/p>\n

Lopez’s output is just too low volume to win a decision here against Warrington on Saturday, especially in the champion\u2019s home city of Leeds. He will likely need a knockout in this one.<\/p>\n

While that\u2019s possible given Warrington\u2019s vulnerabilities in the past, it\u2019s more likely Warrington has learned from his mistakes last time out and will look to ambush Lopez in this one, leading to a wide points decision win for the English fighter this weekend.<\/p>\n
