South Korea vs Ghana Analysis<\/h3>\n

When the World Cup groups were announced, most pundits penciled Portugal and Uruguay advancing from Group H with relative ease. Ghana doesn’t look like the same team that advanced to the quarterfinals in 2010 and South Korea is reliant on one star who entered this tournament at less than 100-percent fitness.<\/p>\n

But the opening day results may have raised a couple questions about the two top dogs, and a win by either team in this match would certainly make things interesting in the final match day. <\/p>\n

Tale of Two Halves<\/h3>\n

Ghana and Portugal engaged in one of the slowest, most uneventful halves of soccer that we have seen at this World Cup. They entered halftime at 0-0 with Ghana failing to register a shot or scoring opportunity.<\/p>\n

The second half was a much different story as both teams threw caution to the wind and went for it. Both teams generated a plethora of scoring opportunities, resulting in five second half goals. With Ghana as the only team without a point after Match Day 1, the Black Stars are going to have to push the issue for 90 minutes in this contest, not just 45.<\/p>\n

One-Man Show<\/h3>\n

South Korea’s success in this tournament will largely rest on the shoulders of Son Heung-min, who is still getting back to proper fitness levels after having facial surgery. Son played with a mask in Korea’s opening match with Uruguay. He showed flashes of brilliance streaking through the midfield, but South Korea failed to register a shot on goal against Uruguay in the opener.<\/p>\n

This match provides a unique opportunity for Son, who will be playing against his first professional coach. Ghana’s manager, Otto Addo, was Hamburg’s youth coach when a 16-year-old Son signed with the Bundesliga squad.<\/p>\n

South Korea vs Ghana Prediction<\/h2>\n

With Ghana still needing to play Uruguay and South Korea having a date with Portugal on the horizon, both teams know that this match is the only one that they have a realistic chance at a win to escape the group. Both teams should be aggressive. A draw doesn’t really do either team much good.<\/p>\n

Eleven of Ghana’s last 14 matches have seen at least two goals (and one of the three games that didn’t featured two red cards). Andre and Jordan Ayew have combined to score 44 goals for the Black Stars in their international careers. Twenty-three-year-old Osman Bukari scored in the opener against Portugal and put three in the net during this year’s Champions League for Crvena Zvezda. Both teams have players capable of getting on the score sheet.<\/p>\n
