New Orleans Pelicans vs Memphis Grizzlies Analysis<\/h3>\n

The Memphis Grizzlies will visit the Smoothie King Center for a Western Conference clash with the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

The Pelicans took care of business on Saturday night in 119-106 home victory against the Houston Rockets. The short-handed Grizzlies were defeated 102-92 on Sunday against the Washington Wizards.<\/p>\n

This will be the first of four meetings in a regular season series that Memphis won 3-1 in the 2021-22 campaign. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST\/4:30 PST as the first game of a Tuesday night TNT doubleheader.<\/p>\n

Heat Win Two Straight Against Hornets<\/h3>\n

The Memphis Grizzlies suffered a 102-92 loss against the Washington Wizards as they played without the services of Ja Morant (ankle) and Desmond Bane (right toe) due to injuries.<\/p>\n

Dillon Brooks led the team with 19 points while Tyus Jones chipped in 17 points of his own. Big man Steven Adams had a 12 point 10 rebound double-double. Morant in particular plays a tremendous role in the Memphis game plan as he averages 28.8 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists per game.<\/p>\n

He also paces a fast break offense that ranks 2nd in the league with 16 points per contest. The Grizz are dealing with injuries outside of Morant & Bane as they are already playing without Jaren Jackson Jr, Zaire Williams and Danny Green.<\/p>\n

However both Morant is on track to return Tuesday night while Bane is now doubtful. Memphis is the #11 scoring team in the NBA with 114.8 points a game. They rank slightly below average in defensive scoring with 113.4 points allowed per game.<\/p>\n

Pelicans Powered By Potent Offense<\/h3>\n

The New Orleans Pelicans improved to 7-6 on the season after dismantling the Houston Rockets 119-106 on Saturday. Superstar big man Zion Williamson led the Pels with 26 points on 8 of 9 from the field and 10 of 12 from the charity stripe.<\/p>\n

Larry Nance Jr added 22 points off the bench while Brandon Ingram chipped in with 20 points of his own. Williamson is off to a solid start on the season with 23.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists.<\/p>\n

New Orleans sports one of the leagues top offensive attack that ranks 6th in points per game with 116.5 points a game. They also rank 2nd in rebounding with 45.3 per game.<\/p>\n

Defensively the Pels are middle of the pack at 15th with 113 points allowed per game. Zion Williamson is listed as questionable with a foot\/ankle injury, as is point guard Kira Lewis Jr.<\/p>\n

New Orleans Pelicans vs Memphis Grizzlies Prop Prediction<\/h2>\n

The New Orleans Pelicans are favored by 4 points over the Memphis Grizzlies with a total of 229. While both teams are middle of the pack in pace they are 6th and 11th in scoring so we should see our fair share of points tonight.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately no Pelican player props have been released yet due to the uncertainty surrounding Zion Williamson. One thing I’ve noticed is Jonas Valanciunas’s lack of production and minutes as he only averages 24 minutes per game and only 20 minutes in his last two games.<\/p>\n

Between the Williamson and Valanciunas situations it seems like Steven Adams will be controlling the paint.<\/p>\n

His rebound total is set at only 9.5, a total he has cleared in 8 of 10 games while landing on 9 in the other two. Let’s look for that trend to continue tonight in game that could be short on bigs.<\/p>\n
