Ottawa Senators vs New York Islanders Betting Analysis<\/h3>\n

The Ottawa Senators finally snapped their seven-game winless run on Saturday with a 4-1 road win against the Philadelphia Flyers.<\/p>\n

The Flyers outshot the Senators by margin in that game, along with taking the early lead as well. However, the Senators weren’t to be denied as they came roaring back in that game, largely through the efforts of Alex DeBrincat who netted twice for the visitors as they took the win.<\/p>\n

The Islanders meanwhile have won eight of their last ten overall, but did suffer a shock shutout loss at home against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday as mammoth -310 home favorites.<\/p>\n

The Islanders won all three meetings between the two teams last season, with all of those matchups coming via multiple-goal margins as well.<\/p>\n

Islanders Enjoy Strong Previous Record Against Senators<\/h3>\n

Following on from last season\u2019s domination against Ottawa and outscoring the Senators 12-4 across that series, this is a head-to-head rivalry the Islanders have enjoyed across multiple seasons.<\/p>\n

The Islanders have won nine of the last ten meetings between the two sides and five of the last six in Ottawa as well, so no doubt Lane Lambert and company will expect more of the same here on Monday against the Senators also.<\/p>\n

Defense Remains An Issue For Senators This Season<\/h3>\n

The Senators have given up a sizeable 3.50 gapg on the year so far, the league\u2019s 7th-highest mark overall, and 34.14 opponent shots allowed per game also.<\/p>\n

The data doesn\u2019t disagree with those sub-par defensive numbers either as Ottawa ranks 19th in the league overall this year on defensive xGA and 28th (13.0%) on opponent high-danger conversion percentage this season also.<\/p>\n

Both teams come into this one with above-average offenses this season and below-average defenses, and any time we get a scenario like that it\u2019s an automatic look towards the Over.<\/p>\n

Both the Islanders and Senators rank top ten in the league this season on expected goals and high-danger scoring opportunities as well, while both teams rank bottom half in the league on overall xGA this year, with the Islanders ranking 31st, second from bottom, and the Senators ranking 19th as previously mentioned.<\/p>\n
