Texas vs TCU Analysis<\/h3>\n

After defeating West Virginia in Morgantown on Saturday by a 41-31 score, TCU\u2019s first season under Sonny Dykes has been all but postered as a success. Dykes can flip a narrative that has chased him for years, “The Sonny Swoon”, and push all-in Doyle Brunson-style with a victory over the Texas Longhorns as a touchdown underdog.<\/p>\n

What exactly is the Sonny Swoon? In 2014 at Cal, Dykes started 4-1 and lost six of his last seven games and didn’t make a bowl game. In 2015, Cal started 5-0 with wins over Texas and Washington, then lost five of its next six games. Similar peaks and valleys were seen during his four seasons at SMU.<\/p>\n

The carpet has not been pulled out from under the Horned Frogs yet this season, thanks in large part to field general Max Duggan, who has thrown for 24 touchdown passes with just two interceptions.<\/p>\n

Tale of Two Halves<\/h3>\n

TCU has been closing the door on opponents in the second half, while Texas has flirted with blowing some big leads. In TCU’s last four games, the Horned Frogs have out-scored their opponents 55-14 in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

Texas has been out-scored 38-6 in the second half of its last two games while losing at Oklahoma State and nearly blowing a three-touchdown lead against Kansas State. Perhaps Steve Sarkisian has become a bit too reliant upon Bijan Robinson and the running game? The Longhorns have scored a total of one touchdown after halftime in their last three games.<\/p>\n

Texas vs TCU Betting Notes<\/h3>\n

TCU has covered the spread in six of its last eight meetings with Texas. The Horned Frogs are 8-1 against the spread this season, and have covered the spread in all four of their road games.<\/p>\n\n\n
