St. Louis Blues vs New York Islanders Betting Analysis<\/h3>\n

Two teams heading in opposite directions here on Thursday as the streaking New York Islanders head into Missouri to take on a St. Louis Blues team that have dropped five straight games now heading into tonight’s matchup and will look for a rebound later tonight on home ice.<\/p>\n

Even worse than that for the Blues is the fact they\u2019ve been completely outgunned in those games as well, getting outscored 25-8 over that run with criticism of the teams’ performances harsh also.<\/p>\n

The two teams faced each other twice last year during the regular season, with both sides holding home-ice advantage with a win and a loss respectively.<\/p>\n

Islanders Hitting All The Right Notes Early<\/h3>\n

Returning home against the New York Rangers last week certainly proved beneficial to the Islanders as they\u2019ve since ripped off a four-game win streak and have averaged 4.25 goals per game across that mini-run as well.<\/p>\n

With goalie Ilya Sorokin in some fine form right now also, registering as the 4th best goalie in the league this season and tied 1st in overall number of quality starts as well, the Islanders will no doubt head into Missouri full of confidence later tonight.<\/p>\n

Hammer Comes Down On St. Louis\u2019 Recent Performances<\/h3>\n

Both the Blues coach and general manager were quick to come out after Monday\u2019s lopsided loss to the LA Kings with some harsh words for how this Blues team have performed over recent games.<\/p>\n

Blues general manager Doug Armstrong basically issued an ultimatum to the team that this is effectively ground zero for St. Louis at this point of the season, and if performances don\u2019t start rapidly rising in quality from now on, an overhaul of the roster may be necessary.<\/p>\n

St. Louis Blues vs New York Islanders Prediction<\/h2>\n

Despite all their recent issues this season, the Blues underlying numbers haven’t been all that bad, especially on defense, where they rank 7th in overall opponent scoring chances created and 5th on opponent high-danger creation rate as well, so they should have more than enough to trouble the Islanders here on Thursday.<\/p>\n

On top of that, you would have to feel with the words used after the Kings game earlier this week, with coach Craig Berube calling out the team\u2019s overall work ethic and hunger to win, and general manager Doug Armstrong hinting at major changes needed if the team continues to perform at their current level.<\/p>\n

Those types of statements should light a fire under this St. Louis\u2019 Blues team later tonight, especially in front of their home fans, and that they respond with a season-best performance in this one.<\/p>\n

Whether that\u2019s the case or not, St. Louis have nevertheless won seven of their last ten games against the Islanders in this venue and we expect that to continue here with a rebound win at home tonight.
